Something like the Olympics/Goodwill Games
I am proposing the community hosts something like this twice a year.
The events I think would be good are:
PvP:
Fencing
Swords
Archery
Macing
Archery
Wrestling (perhaps)
All duels will be held in gm armor and an agreed upon minimal resources to heal.
Trials will be held until there is a gold, silver, bronze level for each category. We can come up with something that corresponds to Sosaria.
Tamers:
Chicken/dog/cat .. any pet that anyone with the human equivalent of 20 in Taming/Lore/Vet can command. This would have to exclude the imprisoned pets because they start off with far too high skills and resists an actually tamed pet of the same type cannot have.
Mount versus Mount
I do not have a tamer, if any of you know of specific mounts that should not be allowed, let me know… or let the group mind here know.
Have a separate tourney for Tokuno/Mondain’s Legacy Pets.
Have a Dragon vs. Dragon tourney.
Basic rules would be that each tamer would be limited to bandages and such. Also, the tamers are only there to heal or buff their pet.
Non PvP:
Chess Tournament
Backgammon Tournament
Some sort of crafting competition. You guys are smart.
Some sort of spoken/performed word or bardic type event.
As a subset: you could set it up to be:
a) original work
b) interpretation of someone else’s work.
The idea would be that some group/clan/alliance/protectorate/guild/giggling minions of Burl Ives Thighs … I don’t care who … but it would help to bring attention to the group willing to sponsor this type of thing.
I just think it could lead to lots of rp.
This is a way to get the Champion subplot useful.
This is a chance for us to meet on middle grounds.
I know there should be some sort of group of magery events.. but in gm armor, mages have the upper hand in battles if done properly.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.. I see this as something we work on as a community.
=====================================
As it stands now, I have a group proctoring the Backgammon tourney, Toni McStravick will, and if she meant a different alt, that is entirely my fault and will surrender to her punishment.
I also have Thomas Hunter of the Heralds of Truth willing to proctor the Chess tourney.
Zeth Melgar of the Shifters Alliance will proctor a Dart tournament. I am trying to talk him into also doing an archer tournament.
I think I will proctor the bardic stuff unless someone else wants to.
We need groups willing to proctor a few gm equipment tourneys.
Moonglow will be doing the opening ceremonies and the Protectorate will be doing closing.
In between it will probably take 2 weeks at least to get all events do the final four or two.
This will not begin until after the situation in Moonglow is settled. _________________ "He's been fired from the Shrimp Boat?" -- Charlaine Harris "Living Dead In Dallas." |

Ivory will begin preliminary arrangements for the Games as soon as the Moonglow event is settled.
I also wanted to explain that if you sponsor an event, it does not have to be a night to fight anyone's schedule but your own, as long as you do not schedule the same time as another event.
But the details will be worked out later. _________________ "He's been fired from the Shrimp Boat?" -- Charlaine Harris "Living Dead In Dallas." |

Again, this will take place beginning a few weeks after the current Moonglow event. _________________ "He's been fired from the Shrimp Boat?" -- Charlaine Harris "Living Dead In Dallas." |
