The tall sandstone building loomed before and with purposeful grace, she climbed the stairs. Gently the doors creaked open and she entered the Great Library. Her green eyes scanned the room, rows and rows of books and scrolls. A lot of her people's history as well as various works for entertainment and knowledge. It took a lot of time to compile all this information in one location. Even with Tahira's help, it took months.
This had been her pride and joy, a project that would stand the test of time. Even when she was gone it would be here. Tall, silent, yet with volumes to say. The morning sunlight kissed the walls and gave the room a special glow. Almost magical, but to her it was, books and knowledge were truly power. The right words always had weight and majesty.
Walking deeper into the room, her long elegant fingers traced the edges of a leather bound book. This was her sanctuary when she was not at home, a glimmer of her past, before she came to this land. IT gave her a special peace. Now that all was in order, the walls should reflect what they held. She was not pleased with the building's construction. She, at that moment, decided to speak with an architect on the morrow.
How had time passed this way, it seemed in the blink of an eye, things changed so dramatically. First, the arrival here and her sister's official marriage. Then the birth of new places. Later on her engagement and then wedding to Thrax, which gave her the blessing of children of her own. Perhaps, that was why this face was so special to her. A lot of the past and history was kept here as a witness to all that her family had achieved. This she would pass rightfully to her daughter as is the tradition and custom of her heritage.
Before she met Thrax, family did not have the same importance as it does now. It grew more intense with the birth of her children. Amazing how things like that will change ones life. It always made her wonder though, how Thrax could acknowledge the man that even he referred to as his brother. They only shared likeness in appearance and nothing more. The dark man was nothing like her husband, he was arrogant, lewd and deceitful. She shivered at the notion again to their relation and put him out of her mind. She wanted to enjoy this day and savour it... _________________ "Knowledge is not information, it's transformation."
