Rryn sat quietly meditating in her garden. Many thoughts crossed through her mind of things she had noticed within her Empire. Many things that would need to be rectified and soon.
The children would soon return from their visit in New Haven. The visit had been uneventful unlike last time and for that she was greatful. Many had held concerns but the journey had queled many fears and most were prepared for other such travellings again.
A visit would soon be in order with the new Governor-Regent and preparations were being made to see to his comfort and a grand dinner and hunt were in the works. The ladies in the tailor shop were even commissioning a special Kimono in honor of his visit to present to him. Rryn looked forward to his visit .. she found his intelligence and conversation stimulating.
This brought about another stream of thought...
The men had become soft...too compliant. When once they would stand proudly and train to hone skills .. they now appeared in the market with pregnant wives who shunned them for even thinking of training. The visit and subsequent comment made by a dignitary was her first real look at the situation. Perhaps it was time to adjust who controlled her armies. She needed someone that had control of his personal life and would make it his duty to keep the men trained. The men needed a leader that had the time and energy to do this job. She would need to look closer at the situation to see if such changes needed to be placed.
The men placed strategically around the outer islands had little to report. The usual rogue activities but nothing of major importance. Perhaps it was time to send the shogun out to visit them all and let the men see their leader in action. A few weeks in the wilds might do him some good.
Smiling she stood and made her way to her study and sat down to send him a message requesting he make preparations for this journey by the weeks end. Sealing it with her royal order seal, she sent the kitchen maids son off to deliver the message.
Looking through the mail gathered that morning on her desk..she spent the next several hours responding in kind.
Thoughts of her earlier musings pushed aside for the moment... |
