Your Grace,
Word of your doings and actions in Yew have reached me, and I seeking to usher in an new area of peace and prosperity across the world have spoken in length with His Majesty, King Sid in an effort to seek a resolution over the Yewish matter that will not lead to bloodshed.
His Majesty has offered to allow a Parliamentary system guided by a Prime Minister to be be erected in Yew pending the following conditions are met:
Quote: | I. Your immediate and willing relinquishing of your Barony.
II. Your immediate and willing re-location from Yewish territories to Papua or another non-Yewish or non-Protectorate territory.
III. Your formal and willing withdrawal of any claims to citizenship or royal-peerage in Yew or any of it's holdings. |
I, on behalf of the Britannian Protectorate and as over-seer of these diplomatic proceedings will ensure that both sides maintain their part of the agreement upon formal recognition of this plan.
I will allow non-loyalist and non-allied parties designated by you with exception of members of your house, members of the house Armunn and members of Lord Ramses' court to, with Protectorate High-Ambassador Grath and his Diplomatic team, witness the appointment and installation of the Prime Minister in Yew.
If your intent is truly to see a system of popular vote take root in Yew, and not to gain for yourself control over the city I expect you will find this agreement to your liking, and you may rest assured the Britannian Protectorate has and will remain committed to seeking a peaceful resolve for all issues involving innocent lives.
As always, should you seek to lead any sort of a violent uprising in Yewish lands again as you did with your pact with the now shattered Armunn Empire The Britannian Protectorate is prepared to do what it must to defend it's loyalists and allies. You are on notice.
Should you seek to discuss this further, or prepare the final proceedings to execute this action of diplomacy you may with my blessing come to Nujel'm, you also may remain in the Palace as my guest for the duration of your stay.

Thrax read the letter and penned a response.
"M'Lord,
Greetings,
While I am pleased to see you acting with your head instead of the sword-arm of your army on first impulse as seems to be the case lately, I am unable to comply with the terms you have presented.
The first one is already done. I have relinquished the title of nobility.
The second is quite impossible. My ancestral holdings are entirely in the vicinity of Yew (check any map) as it contains the Shrine of Justice which is definitely the virtue for which Yew is renown. I could no more move out of them than you could your own ancestral lands, if you have any.
The third is somewhat redundant on the first part. My renunciation of my claims to royalty or nobility were formally and publicly proclaimed and proved at the last meeting of the Regency, but then, after establishing the Commonwealth of Yew, I abdicated and therefore gave them all up. However, as I do reside in Yew, I can never and will never give up my citizenship therein. Besides that, I have vowed to aid my fellow citizens in securing their rights to a free and independent government unrelated to the military dictatorship which you continue to support. I shall continue to make progress on that.
Let me propose terms for a peaceful settlement if that is indeed your intention.
I. The current man you back shall retain his title and will be honored as such any time he is in the township or my home. This must be, of course, approved by another plebiscite. I shall make a good case for it, rest assured.
II. The Commonwealth shall continue as planned and the Articles implemented and accepted by him and, if necessary, you.
III. I shall serve as the first Prime Minister of the Commonwealth and will answer to your man on matters of security and report to him on the well-being of the state.
IV. The Protectorate will approve all of this in writing to me, signed by you and any witnesses you may choose.
Again, I thank you for your desire to create a workable solution. However, the people have spoken and there is no longer any viable program except to fulfill their wishes, or else be found imposing a military dictatorship to quell the voice of freedom. I would not presume to lecture you on the meaning of the virtues, but it is plain that a number of them will be violated should this process be impeded.
I await your reply, m'lord.
Best Regards,
Thraxanduril" |

Your Grace,
While my family's estate and holdings were eradicated in the Daemonic Invasion of Magincia, and what remains of living family is now well-protected in a survivor-camp led by Prince Athalon Isk of Magincia. Had I still had much of an estate aside from a worthless pile of rubble I would within an instant vacate it for the good of my people.
In response to your propositions, Royalty is not up to vote or public opinion. If King Sid is indeed King by divine right of succession it is not up to the discretion of any "pelbiscite" to at will declare and renounce royalty. It is unethical, illegal and in violation of the divine right of succession.
I also have a severe reservation as to the legality of Lord Ramses crowning you King of Yew. Lord Ramses has nor never had any authority over the Kingships of foreign nations. It would be as absurd as myself assuming I could crown the King of Sanctus, illegal, impossible and illegitimate. A foreign ruler cannot legally delcare the ruler of another foreign principality , that being said all your actions thus far are at best a unwilling sedition.
The 'Commonwealth" and "Articles" will not be accepted by the Britannian Protectorate without the consent and desire of King Sid of Yew, if he so needs or desires it, we will do all we can to preserve his rightful Yewish Government.
Given your past, as well as your most recent dealings and deals with the Armunn Empire who openly promote and associate with undead, as well as your service to Lord Ramses I am afraid I would ardently protest you as serving in any official capacity in said government, you have demonstrated a wanton disregard for virtue and serve a defunct tyrant. It is a known fact had the Armunn Empire secured Yew for you, you would have permitted the forced worship of Oblivion that was part of Imperial Policy.
In terms of "the will of the people" it is known that I personally always side with the will of my people, but I somehow suspect you refer not to a general population but a handful at best of agitated peasants or paid thugs. If this not be the case let me attend one of your "rallies" and hear the cry of these supposed Yewish masses myself.
It is a gift Your Grace that with the fall of the Empire I did not storm into your territory and seek your arrest and trial. Do not suppose it is because you have fooled myself nor the world into believing you are anything else then what you are.
I would seek to meet with you to continue discussions on this matter and seek some agreeable resolution, but be advised should I for one moment to think that should riotous or rabble-rousing behavior ensue over this I will not hesitate to establish order and safeguard the Kingdom of Yew by what ever means the King of Yew allows me to.
His Majesty, Lord Adrien Garnier

Thrax bade the courier to enter and be seated. He asked Poppy to see that he be offered refreshment. He took the letter and left the room to read it in private.
Upon returning, he found the fellow finishing a drink and making small talk with Poppy. She glanced up at him, excused herself and left the room.
Thrax handed the letter back to the courier. "A reply sir?" he asked.
"No. No more writing. The Commonwealth is every bit as legitimate as is the Protectorate of which he is figurehead. He has the backing of powerful nobles, no doubt. I have the backing of a simple people who are tired of them all. Take that message back to him, and them, and let the chips fall where they may."
He bade the man goodbye and showed him the door. |
