Brianha ran her fingertips along the tops of the flowers as she sat among them in the extensive garden she once frequented romantically with Vaen. It brought back many pleasant memories and she decided this was a fitting place to pen her letter to him. Closing her eyes and breathing in a deep breath of nature’s perfumes surrounding her, she gathers the courage and puts her pen to paper….

Vaen,

Before you read any further I need you to put your anger aside and close your eyes thinking of how we once were, how we were always meant to be. When you can do this and think of me with fondness and not anger then open your heart to what I have to say and really listen to my heart, for you know I could not ever send you away from me without good cause…

You and I have been through so much together, both happiness and tragedy. In all of our time together I see in your soul the urge to be a warrior and a leader. You can not live a status quo life such as we were. I saw in your eyes that fire that needed to be quelled once again. In my heart I did not want to let you go, but for my own heart I could not bear to see the methods you would need to use to accomplish the great task ahead of you. As a woman I did what I needed to allow you to be the man you are. It is no easy task to be yours, and I knew that long ago, but destiny cares not for the pain that may follow the pleasure.

I also needed time to mourn our loss. I was too afraid to let go and breakdown around you, I have never been one to show weakness so easily as you know my stubborn heart well. After I sent you away I spent much of my time at the tiny grave that holds our child and I cried until I thought I could feel no more. I felt so empty and I needed to know you were safe.. I needed one precious thing in my life to still give me reason to put one foot in front of the other.

I have that reason again. I watch you far away and yearn for your touch again, even knowing I am not the last woman your hands have caressed and yet still that matters not. I know you are close to what you wanted to accomplish, and in finding that duty fulfilled I hope in your heart there is still the same yearning to fulfill your life with love again.

I will be with you Vaen, I will always be with you.
Always yours
Bri

Bri closes the paper and seals it wrapping it with a green ribbon and holds it close to her heart. She thinks for a moment and then decides to send it with a courier in case he should wish to respond, but instructs the courier that under NO circumstances is he to give her identity away.

She watches the boy disapear and hopes she will recieve something.. anything to give her hope

Vaen stared at the letter. These past few days have been torment. The ups and downs when it comes to matters of the heart can take a toll on any man, no matter how strong. And now she decides to send him a letter. The anger still festered within him, remembering the day she kicked him out, not giving him much of a reason at all. And then, the sadness, the day he remembered burying his first child. He closed his eyes, and reached for a pen and some paper, penning a small reply.

Brianha,

It is good to hear from you. Good to know that you are well, but your timing could not have been more you.

I can put my anger and hurt aside while reading a letter, but I cannot put it aside for good. I am still in the middle of what I am trying to accomplish. While you may have had good intentions, the impact of the decision still remains. But I'm guessing you knew it would.

If we are to ever settle our problems, it will have to be in person. Letters convey thoughts. They do not convey feelings. And our problems need both thoughts and emotions, should they ever be solved.

I cannot give to you, nor any woman, anything that you would want right now. My foremost loyalties lie with the Northland Republic, and to seeing its success. I will not stray from that.

Brianha saw the boy and hope welled in her heart, she nearly ran to the boy to get the response from him. She smiled warmly at the boy and told him to wait just a bit in case she needed him.

Sitting down she opened the letter and sadness filled her heart. He seemed so cold. Perhaps it was not time then. She would remain as she was..
He was angry, she was angry in her own way knowing he was being a stubborn mule.

Letting her head fall and closing her eyes she thought of what response she could send.

Vaen,

I will remain as I am, in the distance. I only want what is best, and at this time I can see your being alone is best. I wish you well on your quest, and know that I hold you in my heart ... always you will be mine.

Yours
Bri

Brianha,

You and I both believe in destiny and fate. You do as you must, and I will do as I must. What happens, happens. If it is meant to be, it will be.

But whatever route life takes us, I wish you happiness, with all my heart. I do.

Sitting still for hours and staring at nothing Bri felt herself closing up again. She was trying to reach out to him and he wanted nothing of it. She was startled by the boy again and she almost didnt want to take the letter this time. Trying to smile at him she reached out her hand for it and then paid him for all of his troubles ... "you may go, thank you for all of your hard work today, but I will not be sending another reply" He took his pay, bowed and took his leave.

She opened the letter and quickly read it. She felt her frustration begin to boil.. "stubborn man!"

Thinking of what next to do she folded the letter in her pocket and left the gardens. She would not beg, she would not crawl to him... she would let him suffer as she was suffering... for now
