The chessboard lay as it had before. The white king is still in check, threatened by the black knight. It was the opponent's move, and it was time to find out what move that would be.

Tarothin Armunn,

It is at this time I inform you that you have been played from the very moment I joined the Order. The only reason I sided with you in Minoc some time ago was to secure the land's safety. I have done that. Now I intend to do so in a more permanent sense.

A rebellion has started. The lands of Minoc and Vesper are willing to fight you for their freedom from the Armunn Empire, and I intend to help them. Our numbers may be small, but we will fight to our deaths if that is what it takes.

The supplies that Minoc received from Thrax will greatly support this war effort. No, he is not with me. But I was able to distribute the supplies he sent amongst the rebel soldiers. We will use it to push you out.

You can withdraw from the land, and accept defeat, or you can fight us.

I look forward to your reply.

The rage he felt was something he had not experienced in a long time. Something that was close to the past when his soldiers betrayed him once before to flock over to the Legion of Justice. Murderous rage to the extent of no bounds. Or at least so it seemed. There were only chunks of flesh and bone and blood splatters everywhere of what once was the messenger. Until finally it lowered to just a seething hatred.

He played a good game. The effect that it will most likely have will harm the Order more then the Protectorate. Something to fear in itself? No. But the disention it will cause.

He was mad at himself. He had made them Honor Guards so as to better keep an eye on them since he trusted him little. And with the Empire and the goings on, his watching grew smaller and smaller. He spread his troops too thin too fast. He had played this game horribly.

It was time to do as he thought he wouldn't. The best thing he could at this point of time until the Dark Order could once again become the tight soldierhood it once was. The game might not be over yet...

So he then turned to write a letter of his own, using the pools of blood from the last messenger as ink.

Vaen,

Well played.

You can have Minoc, and after hearing the information from Nick, I would assume that Beowulf can have Vesper.
