I stand in the darkness and wait. Awaiting the commands of the Patriarch. To be born Denweir is to be born to serve, and so I serve until serving is complete. May Bedaar's revenge be unleashed; my hand the catalyst. May the Father come forward, release these certain Shadows upon the lands: the Corrupted Wood, the Dry Highlands, Gravewater ... Umbra. The circle shall be completed, surely. The brethren must be awakened. This unlife cannot exist simply in shame; the Denweir name will be restored, untarnished by the cruel and foolish hand of Mardoth.

A crushing slam echoed the dark and dormant stone hallways surrounding him. He clenched his fist tightly; his leather gloves showed the signs of age as they creased with the bend. He closed his eyes for a moment as more thoughts rushed through his already filled mind. He would not be the last of the legacy. The city of Umbra was full, though mostly of enemies and the fools who did not understand the Denweir blood right. There was no hope for revival of relation between these citizens; they were too young to know the history of usurping in the necromancer city.

Alas, Janus recalled the young man he met several weeks prior to this pondering. Though Janus had secluded himself during this time, he, for some odd reason, could not dismiss the name from his mind. Zachary. Serpent's Hold was far too hot and humid to sustain his Umbran and Kindred essence. The Curse of Bedaar was coursing much stronger through his veins, and his soul becoming more dense with the dark arts.

Their last meeting was under the dark moon, in the scattered ruins of a graveyard. Janus was intrigued, as the young man called Zachary carried auras not native to the eyes of Janus. There was certain power in one so young. With the events of past, Janus no longer believed in coincidence. There was purpose in this young man, purpose for Janus to pursue. Perhaps this Zachary would lead Janus to his rightful destiny of restoration.

The years since his family's exile were long and painful, mostly spent absent and dull. Janus was not practiced in his dark arts, though certainly his blood compensated: he grew stronger with the Curse by each eve. What awaited the family, only time knew; though Janus had plenty of time and patience.

"There is something about this young one," he softly murmured from his thin lips, turning his head to the side. Withdrawing a simple tablet and pen, he began to write.

Young Zachary,

It seems I have come into a certain bout of turmoil. A plague of regret has beget me into an unwanted slumber of action. I am in need of aid, in a particular manner, and there are few to trust in these lands. I will not ask much via pen, lest I betray my secrecy; so my hopes are for a meeting under the moon, where the dead decay and rest. I am sure you know the location well.

I have watched from the shadows, and I am eager for you to introduce me to this oracle that is called Azunda. I understand there are certain precautions you must take in dealing with this arrangement, so I trust we shall convey more of this discussion in our private meeting.

Come meet me where stands the ruins.

Blessed be the blood,
Janus Denweir
The Black Scion

He sealed the letter in envelope, dipping the pen into the blood vial at his side, writing only "Z" upon the outside.

The letter would be found in the "Of Fishes and Heroes" tavern, awaiting its rightful recipient.

An envelope with a Z written in blood on it. He was certain it was blood, after all his slave robe was stained with it for the last long while. Was this letter for him? Zachary held the envelope in his hands and examined it, thinking. He couldn't think of anyone in Moonglow that made use of the letter Z in their name, and why would anyone use blood to mark an envelope addressed to someone in Moonglow? The letter might very well be important information from his peers. Certain that ignoring it would be worse than reading it and forging the seal if it wasn't for him, he slipped his finger under the envelope's lip opening it and pulled out the letter.

After reading it, Zachary sighed and took off his gloves. Frustrated, he began to rub his eyes. Why does everyone assume he knows Sosaria's geography, especially locations he was moongated to? One of the main things he knew about Sosaria was it was absolutely giant. He opened his eyes and tucked the letter away, then pulled out his map of the world. He knew Moonglow and how giant Verity Isle was, he could just guess how big the main continent was based off of that. He had no clue where to find those ruins, they were in some forest-- And from what he had seen, Sosaria had many, many forests. Oh well. Janus knew where to find him it seemed, if he wanted to speak to Zach that bad he would send another letter. Zach tucked the map away and pulled out his necromancy spellbook and continued studying.

Zachary paced back and forth his small camp in the Corrupted Forest. He couldn't focus, the letter kept coming back to his mind. At the very least he had to -try- and find the ruins. Sighing, he pulled out his map again and examined it. It was probably a good idea to figure out Sosaria's geography anyways. He headed to Britain, one of the few places he had visited, and decided to head northwest. Yew had lots of trees, perhaps he would find the location there. The next step was the issue of a mount. Everyone seemed to have a horse or some ether beast, he had no clue where anyone got them from. Having seen wild horses on the countryside, Zach did what any self respecting necromancer would do. He killed it and raised its corpse, and began his journey to find Janus.
