Riding back to Sanctus side by side with his old friend Ragnar, Zarlox evaluated the nights battle.
The Sanctus raiding party had been prepared for the Umbran forces they had faced. What they hadn’t been prepared for was all of the Dark Orders most veteran and experienced troops being there as well. Due to that, Sanctus simply did not have enough combat veterans to match up with their enemy. They had been able to inflict damage, but took more than they inflicted.
Arriving back in Sanctus, Zarlox immediately began writing a report to the Governor-Regent and the Protectorate Generals. With the Dark Order so concentrated in Umbra, their territories in Felucca would be ripe for attack. |

There couldn't have been better timing on being able to exact some revenge on Sanctus then there was last night. With a few of his troops visiting Umbra's tavern, he decided to take an escort with him to say in person his gratitude to Ceinwyn for helping free Ditto and to express my concern with the blunder that Imryrr and Darrien caused the previous time they visited Umbra. Something I knew I should have very well gone myself so as to make sure the situation was handled as carefully as could be.
Then again, if Ditto had been executed either way would serve his purpose. She would have been a Martyr and one that many seem to like. Disention in the ranks can help bring down any army very quickly.
While leaving Ceinwyns keep, it was interesting to find many Sanctians going towards her keep. It was easy to catch their intent as they were quickly chanting spells while looking at me.
Umbra and D|O quickly gathered in battle formation and after a short time the fight was quickly over.
Sanctus crawling back to thier territory wounded and defeated it could give an easy opportunity to attack Sanctus itself before they have a chance to heal and gather help.
How quick will it be should we do that, for them to remove themselves from Yew and Felucca in general? How easy it could be to cut them off from help by taking Luna and pinching them between us and Umbra.
It appears that I'm not in as bad of a situation as I was beginning to think... |

Junpei, out of habit, awakes before first light. The scarlet sheets on which he laid had provided him much comfort through the night, far better then he would have expected from one of Umbra's cells. Laying in the silent, dark room, he takes the time to reflect on the events of the night before. After shadowing the Sanctus troops to Umbra, Junpei had decided on his own accord to stay and watch the battle unfold from a distance. As it turns out, the encounter lasted far less then Junpei hoped, leaving the rest of his night relatively open. Was letting himself be captured a bad decision? No, his knowledge of Umbran ways has greatly benifited from the ordeal. The only casualty was that he was revealed as the man from the tavern... the very same tavern in which he was forced to sleep over night. Other then that and his vague reference to his 'commander', no information was lost. Igniting the lantern, Junpei pulls a small leather bound journal from beneath his tunic and sets it on the table, and out of his satchel comes a capped bottle of ink and quill. After finishing his report of the night before, Junpei returns the supplies, dons his kamishimo and kasa, and silently slips out of the room, leaving it exactly as he found it the night before. "Hopefully Willow won't get in too much trouble for loosing her charge," thinks Junpei. _________________ The fish trap exists because of the fish. After the battle in Umbra, Spawn, the avatar of Oggaroth stood on the bridge of Umbra watching the soldiers of Sanctus returning to their city. It was a glorious battle for Oggaroth as he held his blood stained bone harvester tightly in his grip. Spawn glanced over his shoulder upon hearing footsteps behind him. The priest of Oggaroth, Lomar, walked slowly towards his master on the bridge.
"Master!" Lomar said bowing respectfully to his master. Spawn give the priest a small nod then glancing back at the remaining Sanctus soldiers heading back to their city. The priest glanced at the corpses and blood scattered around him. "Was there a battle of some sort master?" Lomar asked glancing back to Spawn.
"Yes... the Sanctans attempted to raid Ceinwyn and her people but instead were driven back" Spawn said. The priest nodded at Spawn's reply.
"How did you fare master?" Lomar asked.
"The Sanctans once again experienced the full power of Oggaroth!" Spawn said laughing evilly. He then began to walk off the bridge in the direction of Sanctus.
"Where are you going master?" asked Lomar following close behind Spawn.
"I'm going to turn Sanctus into a graveyard while their moral is down! The perfect time to strik....!" Spawn said suddenly stopping in the middle of the road. His crimson eyes glanced around him aimlessly.
"What is it master?" asked Lomar glancing around as well trying to follow his master's eyes.
"I sense something... Something I felt since...." Spawn glanced up at the sky.
"Concordia!?? It is Concordia isn't it!?!" Lomar said in a bit of a panic. Spawn turned around quickly grabbing Lomar by his throat.
"Don't you ever say that name in presence again!" Spawn throwing Lomar to the ground. The priest landed on his back on the cold hard street before rolling over kneeling towards Spawn.
"I'm sorry master! I did not mean to anger you!" Lomar said standing to his feet. "But what do we do now master if 'she' is here?" He asked dusting his robe off.
"I shall find Concordia's avatar and wipe her existance from this world!" Spawn said as he started to walk down the road again. His evil laugh echoed around him as he and his priest disappeared into a moongate. _________________

She now knew why it was, she was to accompany her father, her emperor, to Umbra.
Little had been said to her about the trip she and the Lich Lord had taken there a few days earlier, except that he had been disspointed. He had chosen this trip to make that disappointment more apparent by stating it in front of their allies. A most public way to point out her .... failure. But, it was not -her- failure that she'd seen that night, nor this night. It was his. She was becoming annoyed at him throwing the failure of his idiotic decissions onto her, whenever he chose not to take her advice.
Imryrr's thoughts were disturbed at the sudden shift in movements by her brethren around her and she followed their gazes..... from the distance she could not be possitive, but did she just catch a glimpse of a Sanctan symbol?
In the time it took to but draw her weapon, the enemy had converged all around. Their numbers a good one from the looks of it, three to one or so against them. Just the odds she liked. Positioning her shield and slipping off her horse in one movement, the emperorer's daughter held firm with her feet on the ground.
Her sheild glanced one away as she took the opportunity to plunge her blade into his flesh, and with a twist and rip, he indeed bled profusely. The fight had begun, and in moments, the skill of the Sanctans had found their marks in the softspots of her armor several times. Imryrr barely noticed the slashes and gouges as her attention was drawn more into causing as much damage as she could to her enemy's insides.
The smell of battle permeated the air. The sounds of explosions while metal hit metal. A sudden chill in the air after necromantic chants. And though her body bled, to her, this was living.
Binding her wounds quickly with salves and bandages, Imryrr's mood was high and good. She had fallen in battle. Too exahausted and too injured to fight, she had witnessed the enemy being pushed backwards through her blurry, bloodfilled vision. Her brethren and her Umbran allies fought on courageously, and she was proud.....for the first time, in a long time, her mood was good and her spirits high, though she barely showed such. She held her stoic air and wiped the blood from her blade, preparing either for a second wave, or for her father's command to push to Sanctus. In the corner of her eye, she spied Merci. They exchanged a nod of 'well done' between soldiers.
