To clarify things right now, I don't expect this channel to be an anything-goes insanity fest like #dragoona was. That's why I didn't name it #dragoona or #norture and instead went with the very generic #evil, even though I welcome everyone and anyone into the channel. I mean, I RP with Moonglow so much I wouldn't mind seeing them in there, or conversely go into a Moonglow channel if there was one.

If I ever need to impose rules on the channel, I will. Considering the only people that really caused rules like that to come into play were myself and Raza, that might not happen.

I did assume that this channel would be the same as the ones in the past, given it was the same people involved. If it is not, I do apologize. In my experience, IRC has always been the "anything goes" type of environment for roleplayers. I would hate for someone to innocently stumble in to something like that and then have a negative outlook on our community just because a few people have a perverse sense of humor.

And Kuja, as for your comment: I don't think joking about murdering infants by putting them in blenders is better than anything. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Have fun.

Admoreth tried keeping #charnelhill at PG13, so not all channels were free-for-all. #dragoona was made as a way to keep #charnelhill clean, actually.

Like I said, I don't foresee this channel will need rules, but if they're necessary then I'll make them.

You know, in the past, I've been yelled at for doing just what you did: Taking the worst example of the distant past and applying it to the present or near future, especially when you are talking about an individual. In fact, I've been yelled at for making unfair assumptions about you in the past, when all I was basing those assumptions on was limited interaction from years before. From what I hear (and from what I've seen myself), you've changed since your early days on Atlantic as well (I still have a screenshot of you insulting me in PM, lawl) and I hope that you, just as well as anyone else, understand how unfair it is to spread BS about someone based on that limited interaction from years past.

No, joking about murdering babies isn't particularly PG-13. But again, see above paragraph, and again, nothing of the sort has been talked about yet in that room, and nothing of the sort will be talked about in that room. I've been an IRC idler in #atlantic, #ultima-online and other rooms for YEARS now. It is kept clean.

I still think ICQ is the most damaging medium we posess, as negative as some people are about IRC, forums, and ventrilo. Consider what would happen if the rate of past assumptions like the one you made were spread all over ICQ; we might end up in a community where people have years old OOC vendettas, split communities because people can't get along, arguments that are never solved because everyone believes the rumors as fact, people standing up for one another only because they hate the person/group on the other side of the argument, a clusterf*** of rules that everyone abuses to the hilt, etc etc etc. That would be horrible.

I find it odd we blame these problems on chat programs rather than people.

As humans we tend to place blame on anything we can, all the while avoiding addressing the problem of ourselves.

Neither ICQ, IRC, forums, Ventrillo, or anything else for that matter are to blame for any issues, just the people, and neither one of these mediums are worse than the other, it's all about the people who use them.

I personally don't use IRC since last time I was in there, it consisted of several older players bashing the RP community and Atlantic community continuously. While I don't know if this is the norm, nor will I make assumptions, it was nothing like the IRC rooms of old, and nothing that I would visit again.

The IRC of old was used much like I've tried to use the forums and how I tried to use the forum chat, as an OOC medium to be used to enhance roleplay. Now that the environment of IRC is simply a chat room, I don't particularly see the need to install yet another program to use it, as Mith stated above, we have plenty of OOC communication mediums now. That's just my personal opinion and personal reasons however.

I suppose I still hold a grudge for being harrassed when I was 12-14, by a bunch of adults. Kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I do wish you luck with the channel and keeping it clean. I hope you can have positive experiences with it.

And you were right, Kuja. I shouldn't have posted without any prior knowledge of how things were being conducted.

My apologies if I've caused any undue stress.

Not all of them were adults. Most of them don't play anymore. And grudges don't help anyone.
