Father,

I will address two items in this letter.

The first, I could have acted differently and perhaps better in our public argument the other day. I do not seek forgiveness nor retribution of you. I have the good sense to control my impulses. I will apply this more often in my dealings with you.

Secondly, after spending more time considering the invitation that mother pointed out to us regarding Lord Thrax and his other, I wish to advise you that this gathering may benefit you and the empire as a whole. I know that I said that our time would be better spent with the troops, but I have reconsidered those words. I am no social butterfly and have little patience for those who are, yet, with mother's aid, you may find yourself not only amused with the tiresome celebration, but with more information leading to more power.
I, myself, will not be attending, as I would most probably damage the lesser people there. Sending mother alone, would not be wise either, given the threats towards harmless innocents the Protectorate has made, she being one of them. It could and should be viewed as a cowardly act if she went without you. The Protectorate would not dare lay hand to her if you were there, with your strength. However, she seems to be a favored target for cowards seeking weak prey.
Please, do not take this as a demand. It is both a diplomatic and tactical suggestion that you attend this affair.
