Scar and Malic, posing as half-drunken adventurers, joked and laughed their way past the scarcely-concealed lookouts along the road to Deuce's Vinculum Inn. They polished off a gargoyle or two that attacked them as they neared the building and went inside. They both felt it had been all too easy, and took precautions to detect and avoid an ambush. That the Innkeeper was not about did not lessen their trepidation.

"Get us a place to sleep," Scar proclaimed loudly to Malic, pretending to be eager for rest. Malic nodded and strolled nonchalantly upstairs. Only one door was shut; in fact only one second floor room even had a door to it. Convinced that was where Tempt was being held, he returned to the tavern area and spoke in quiet whisper to Scar. The two men then walked upstairs to the top level. Seeing no one, Scar lit a torch and then dropped a sack of oil-soaked wrags he had been carrying with him onto the floor, and set the them alight.

"Fire!!! Fire!!!" Scar shouted and began running around as if he were trying to find something with which to extinguish the flames. Malic hurried downstairs to the second floor, drawing his blade.

As thick, black, smoke billowed upward from the Inn, the Regency guards who had volunteered for the mission advanced on horseback toward and into the Inn, ready for battle.

Malic threw a purple potion at the flimsy-looking wooden door of the bedroom. The explosion shattered it though it still appeared somewhat intact. He quickly smashed through what was left with his foot and entered, calling out Tempt's name repeatedly. Moments later Scar charged into the room.

As the smoke from the bomb cleared slowly away, the two men's eyes were drawn to the large letters, handwriting in blood, that streaked down the far wall of room that was empty except for them:

"Good, but not enough! You're too late!"

It was signed simply with a very large "V".

Tempt had no idea how many days she had not seen the light of day, even when she was moved she was blindfolded. The voices of her original captors were no longer heard. Just a male and a different female. The place she was in now was dark and damp. A few miners would come and go, but only the drow male spoke to her.

Feelings of emptiness and loneliness consumed her thoughts. Who would know she was here? Did she even know anyone that would try and find her? Her elven eyes saw clearly enough in the dark and she was finally allowed fresh clothing and a bath. Her shoulder was bandaged, though she had no idea why. Her head ached from trying to remember, but it was to no avail. Hopefully something would help in time.

The drow male entered the room with food for her, his deep red eyes pierced her soul and she shivered a bit. It was as if they seethed with hatred, the look stayed with her, even in her dreams. This drow she did not know, but she saw the same look on the one called Vaskiira. She curled herself up tighter on the bedding to stay warm, the fire in the room was barely enough to warm the corner it was in let alone a whole room, even a small one.

All the days seemed to blend together, she didn't speak and barely ate. She couldn't tell how long she had been held by these people, or if she would see the light of day again. Somehow she needed to get out of this place. Looking around the small room she found some pieces of charcoal and some thin pieces of wood. They would work to write on.

Carefully she positioned herself to conceal the wood piece and charcoal under the flimsy blanket. There was no way for her to keep track of time, but she could keep track of the movements of the people in the cavern. With great care she started to take notes, and would continue to do so for some time.

Malic turned and looked to Scar with concern. "Well i suppose we start from scratch?" Malic said seriously, "come we have work to do my friend!"

The female captive of our surface kin was quite attractive, Orgollree'rean thought to himself, he was tempted to indulge in his desires in a manner he would not dare think of with a female drow, but the thoughts of his matron's presence in the shadows kept him from acting. "She would diffently not approve", he said in a mummbled voice.

He had no idea of what her fate was, but followed his matrons orders with strict obedience. "No one will ever find you here, escape is not possible", he said to her, then stepped outside into the main chamber of Op'elg Ha'rol to continue his studies of spells of the arcane and necromancy.

After what felt like a few days of the same routine, she was diligent about drawing a map of the surrounding area with dots marking the positions of where the miners normally were and the direction where the drow would go. One of the miners daughters would occasionally re bandage Tempt's shoulder and check on her, today she was with her.

"Your shoulder is doing better, but you are very thin.", the young woman said to her.

Temptation looked at her, and bundled herself in the blanket more. "Why am I here? What have I done?", she asked almost in tears.

"I am not sure why, or even who you are. I am here to look in on you. Your shoulder was badly injured and that is why it is bandaged. Do you have a name?", the young woman inquired.

"I...I...can't remember." she looked at the woman almost pleading.

"Someone must care for you and know you, you are wearing an engagement ring. The brooch on your cloak though, a beetle of sorts had markings I never saw before. You need to eat, for whomever it is that loves you.", the woman regarded Tempt's face and her expression softened.

"Loves me.", she ran her fingers over the pieces of jewelry, looking at the young woman, "Will you help me?"

"Help you, I am not sure how." she looked around to make sure no one was near. "I am to be wed soon, I know if I were missing the man that loves me would be very upset. What do you want me to do?", she asked quickly.

Tempt removed the brooch and too out the pieces of wood she drew on, with a note asking for aid. "Find someone who recognized the markings on the brooch and have it and the wood pieces taken to them. Please, I know I do not belong here.", she held the young woman's hand and pressed the items into it.

"Alright, but if anything happens I cannot be held responsible. The man, the drow they will kill without provocation. I better go and will do as you ask.", she carefully tucked the items in the folds of her dress and quietly left Tempt.

The red-haired elf let out a deep sigh as she curled up on the makeshift bed and pushed the food away. Now all she had was time, and to wait.
