Today was the day and Nyxanna nervously tied the apron around her waist and picked up the broom that the necromancer silently pointed to.

She swallowed hard and headed to the steps beginning the rythmic swishing of the straw tied broom. There were so many bones to spread, the job was not to get rid of them but move them out of peoples path so that they could walk freely into the shop without tripping. Bones and tree branches slowly moved off to either side as Nyxanna toiled in the shop. They had taken her on at this shop as a sort of internship, she wished to learn as much as possible about regents and the like. It was useful for her to, as she was able to purchase that which she needed for her potions at a slightly discounted rate.

The next chore involved a cloth mop and a bucket filled with blood the Necromancer said nothing just pointed to the floors, Nyxanna understood, a fresh coating of blood it was. The shop was quiet many passed thru there seeing the small pale female working tirelessly her soft braid now bedraggled with wisps of unkempt hair. Then with a gasp she saw Lord Barl enter the store, the Head Necromancer of Umbra was rarely seen, he spent most of his time in his tower looking out upon the city working in secret. So she was shocked when she looked up and had bumped into the necromancer.

My apologies Milord she said with a quick curtsey, hastily one of the head shopkeepers rushed forward hissing at Nyxanna in anger. Barl raised a hand slowly staring at the girl.

You are an ab'Arawn, you look like Ceinwyn.
She nodded, I am Ceinwyns granddaughter sir, and Shades daughter. He looked at her silently again and then turned to the shopkeeper, I have a list of items I have run out of have young ab'Arawn deliver it to the tower at once. She shall come to my tower every morn for the list and fulfill my orders. The shopkeepers nodded and turned taking the list, Nyxanna looked up and Barl was gone as if he had never really been there.
**********************************************

Twenty minutes later Nyxanna stood before the tower steps carrying a heavy bag filled with Barl's order. She wasnt scared but feeling small and unimpressive as she ascended the stairs. A shadowy figure greeted her, the creature heavily cloaked and unrecognizable to her leading her up to the top most point of the tower. She could hear words echoing thru the stones of the tower, words of power, and noises every so often. It was an eery place one that Nyxy could not express her excitement at being inside of. With a wave of his hand he motioned her as to where the supplies should be stocked. She began slowly unloading them carefully placing each regent in its proper place. Her young ears perking as he turned to the shadowy figure and whispered to it.

Two white hands raised up and lowered the hood and Nyxy caught a glimpse of black hair but it was the bright green eyes that caught her attention.
She turned to face the now corporeal spector and gasped as her mother said to her.... You have done well miss ab'Arawn report to me tomorrow for a fresh list. With that her mother raised her hood and turned away sitting at a desk and beginning to write in it furiously as if Nyxanna did not even exist.

Nyxy left the tower and hurried back to the store, her mind a flutter at what she had seen. Her mother looked nothing like her mother, her whole being strangely different from its ussual form. She had never seen her mothers hair turn black nor the way a shadow seemed to emit from her being. It was almost like she was a different woman in Lord Barls presence.

She shook herself and went back to her tasks, restocking supplies for the store, helping customers and she worked tirelessly for twelve hours straight. No lunch, no breaks this was Umbra, such things were unnecessary. She was very happy though, it felt at last as if she had found her place...

Nyxy was a small girl and some of the orders were quite large. She was having quite the problem carrying the heavy orders for people.

So she stopped and bought a pack horse, and filled his pack with her orders. This worked much better.

Yet after work her stomach grumbled and though Nyxy had been quite grateful to the pack horse for carrying her orders she felt an overwhelming urge.....

Soon the horse stared upon the sharp jaws of a wolf as she leapt thru the air tearing into its neck , the horse falling to its side, as passerbys walked on unphased, but then again this was Umbra......

She sat cleaning the blood off her fur and a thought occurred that hadnt before, it could get quite expensive eating her pack horses, she really ought to eat prior to work....

Returning to the stables she bought herself another pack horse, and promised herself that this one she would not eat.. yet the Stable master shook his head as it seemed young Nyxanna arrived every night needing a new horse as the other had *gotten lost and run off*.....
