Now appointed Lord of Foreign Affairs for the Regency, Baron Thrax took to the task with an earnestness born of relish. He had always enjoyed harmless, but occasionally heated, debates and diplomatic haggling that came with dealing with heads of governments. He drew up a list of contacts with a view to sending each of them a copy of the following letter:
"Greetings,
I have been appointed by the Regent to serve the Regency as the new Lord of Foreign Affairs. It will be my responsibility to begin either the establishment or strengthening of ties among various governments and the Regency.
As a government recognized by the Regency, you are are receiving this letter in the hope that you will, in turn, recognize and create or enhance political ties with the Regency under the auspices of the new Regent, Lord Ramses. It is his desire, yea, all the Council's desire, that we begin immediately to seek rapproachement in areas of mutual interest among ourselves, leading to the furtherance and increase of genuine peace and prosperity within Greater Sosaria (which would include not only Britannia, but Malas and Tokuno as well).
If you desire to do this, please respond favorably to this letter. I will then avail myself to visit you at your convenience to commence dialogue that may, in time, prove fruitful toward bonding our communities in friendship.
If you do not wish to do this there is no need to reply. In that event, we shall nonetheless bid you well and hope that whatever separates us can be rectified in the course of time.
In any event, I offer my
Highest Regards,
Thraxanduril
Baron of Thraxstadt
Lord of Foreign Affairs
Regency Council
~ HTY ~"
He sent the first set of copies to Molly Kaldhel, Talon Skyfire, Ceinwyn ab Arawn, Samon Triest, King Sid, Empress Rryn, Isk and Lily Prower. |

"You racist bastard, come read this." Samon walked over to the desk, in the chair behind it sat Fong, the previous Mayor of Moonglow. Fong was just recently recovering from his near death experience. "What is it?"Samon asked the former Mayor. "It is a letter from the Lord of Foreign Affairs. Regency stuff." Fong replied. "Sum it up for me?" Samon asked Fong. "They want to know if we hate them or if we are willing to talk to them." was the answer Fong gave. "Ahh, good deal. Alright, Fong, write down what I say. Then we can send a rider out with it."
Samon spoke his reply to Fong, who copied it down onto paper.

Lord Thraxanduril;
Moonglow would be glad to sit down and have dialogue with the Regency. Sadly, it will be a few days before we can do so. The soonest that Moonglow and the Regency may meet is Sunday evening. Somewhere around Nine past the Eastern sun. Forgive the short reply, but it was all that was warranted.
Best of Luck,
Samon Triest
Mayor of Moonglow

The Warden looked over the official looking letter that had been sent to the heads of state within the land. Magistrate Therian had brought it to him early that morning. Well, I am no governor, nor a leader of a governing body...but I do think I can assist this regency, as we stand for the same ideals.
It was then that Eldan sat down at his desk within Mazewood keep and penned this letter to be sent to the Baron.
My Lord:
I believe I have met with your governing body before. Though I do not agree with the way it has conducted business in the past, I think there are minds that wish to progress our world. Given the recent events that I have been involved in, I feel we are looking for the same goal, even though our means may be different.
I wish to make this clear, I am by no means the leader of any form of government. I am however a protector of Justice and of the people. I would be glad to meet with the Regency to discuss what the Northland Militia can offer to the Regency. I will send an envoy, one of my most trusted advisors and the Magistrate of our Militia. A diplomat by the name of Lord Therian Narshan.
Eldan D'Ardan
-Northland Militia-
Quickly he sealed the letter and made to the sender. |

She takes up her quill and pens a simple responce.
Dear Lord Thrax,
We have had our differences but I do have the wisdom to see you have changed at least in outward appearance. I welcome this news. I am available at your convenience. Please send word via pigeon when you are available to meet.
I look forward to a more ameable and productive future.
Yours in Virtue
Molly Kaldhel, Grand Duchess

Rryn looked at the letter on her bedside tray bearing the marking of the Regency on it. She opened it carefully with her dagger and pulled the message from within. She made a few noises and eyed her friend rocking her newborn son as she read. Lady Annawen glanced to her and finally frustrated at her teasing poked at her foot laughing at her "Read it outloud already!"
Rryn laughed at her then slowly began to read the letter aloud so she could hear it. She handed the letter to Mikido as he entered the bedchamber. Together they discussed the best possible day they could meet with the austere Lord Thrax adding their own thoughts of recent events. All agreed though to hear out what Lord Thrax had to say. Calling her scribe she dictated a return message to be sent immediately to Lord Thrax. She signed the parchment and Annawen escorted the scribe out of the room to see it was delivered.
Lord Thrax,
I am pleased to have recieved your message regarding the Regency. I must admit I found it a pleasant suprise considering the recent lack of notification given the islands regarding affairs of state and of the recent replacement and voting of the new Regent, I found it very strange that the heads of our nation that are loyalists to the Regency and sworn fealty to the body there in were not given notice that such a vote was being done nor were we informed of the change of meeting place so that we could attend such an important meeting.
We have taken into consideration meeting with yourself in the hopes that perhaps this could be explained to us in a matter so as not to cause us disinterest in the Regency any longer. We can meet with you Wednesday at 8 past the noon sun. Please respond if you can arrive at such time and we will send a courier to meet you with directions to our winter domain. As Lady Annawen, also a sworn and pledge seat to the old Regent was also uninformed of state manners and has been residing with me helping me care for my newborn son, I am sure she will also be happy to meet with you and see if her clan wishes to continue an association with this governing council. Thus you can speak with us both in one trip. Should this time not agree, please inform us and we will happily set another time with you. Best of health to you and yours.
Sincerely,
Rryn Anyai
Empress Of Tokuno
Mikido settled the baby down and came over to her tucking the blankets around her more firmly checking to be sure she was comfortable then went to sit in his chair by the fire to read as she rested.
" Should be interesting" he said as she nodded and drifted off to sleep. |

Dearest Thrax,
Absolutely. I would love to sit with you and discuss all the monotonous and tiresome yet not altogether unexpected luxuries of politics that you suggest.
Name the time, name the place
I will grant a moment's grace
But, be forewarned, if thy manners sleep
I shall not all my patience keep
Love always...

Satisfied that likely all replies had arrived, Thrax penned responses to them all and sent them via official couriers.
