The Baron returned from the Alliance meeting and the subsequent one with Duke and Duchess Kaldhel feeling he had accomplished something significant in the exchanges. Despite the somewhat chaotic nature of the initial proceedings, his appearance there was not met with the intense hostility he had expected. That was a good sign. He was also enlightened about the activities of a group called the Dark Order, whom he knew was based in Cove, Felucca. His informants had told him of battles in Vesper and Minoc, but they had insisted these were the usual brigandish warlords and factions vying for power, something for which Felucca was renowned. That knowledge coincided with the Duchess' earlier warnings about them, something forgotten after Magincia had come under attack.

The warm rush of success was tempered by the fact that so few had responded to his peace-offer from the Regency. That must be addressed as well.

He sat down to pen a letter to the Regent and Council:

"Your Majest, and Noble Councilors,

I wish to report that my first attempts to establish diplomatic ties with other governments has met with mixed success.

There have been three respondents to the letter: Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel; Samon Triest, Mayor of Moonglow; and a member of the Northern Militia named Eldan, have replied affirmatively though guardedly approving of our efforts. I have already met with the Duke and Duchess and intend to meet with the others soon.

The other, less welcome, news is that several other governments remain skeptical of the Regency's value, or wish to continue the dissolution of all ties and have chosen not to reply to the letter. Yet, that should not be entirely disappointing. One of the aims was to determine the extent of our friendship or enmity with those powers so we can make appropriate decisions regarding them and their lands should they ever call on us for military intervention or aid on their behalf.

Thus, at this juncture, we may look to Luna and Moonglow as great potential for strengthening ties.

In another vein, I will speak to you all concerning the activities of the Dark Order. They may constitute a very real threat to the security of the realms.

Highest Regards,

Thraxanduril
Baron of Thraxstadt
Lord of Foreign Affairs
Regency Council

~ HTY ~"

He made copies and sent them by special courier to those so addressed.
