Alessandra returned to Dark Cove from her patrol of Vesper and made her way slowly home. Was she really becoming one of them? The thought made her shiver slightly and she pulled her cloak tighter around her. The way Drayden had looked at her... accused her of wearing the clothes of the dead... if only he knew. Earlier that night the words she had said... they did not sound like her, but they had somehow worked with the young Armunn daughter. She was once again gaining their trust, slowly and surely. Then there was Beowulf...

She made her way to Mave's keep and left with his servant a simple note...

Mave,
I trust that this letter finds you well. All is well at the moment in Vesper, though I do fear for the city should the young Armunn leader not get the results she is wishing. I can honestly say she frightens me more than her father ever did, however I do believe I am slowly gaining their trust and respect.
A mutual friend of ours has come to visit. I could not answer all of his questions, and so I have invited him to come and dine with us. Will you be available on the morrow? Please leave a message...

Love,
Alessandra

She bid the servant good night and carefully made her way back to her home, and retired for the evening with many thoughts running through her mind.

Mave walked through the door of his keep, slinging his cloak on the back of the chair.

"M'lord, you will wear yourself out with these constant patrols", one of his servants said as he approached him with a letter in hand.

"Perhaps", Mave replied. "But it is necessary. If I do not try to keep order there in a more peaceful way, who knows what may happen if another of the Order decides a stronger discipline is required."

With a nod, the servant handed him the letter and went back to tending the fireplace.

Mave sat at his desk and after inspecting the outside and noticing no discernable marks or signets, he opened the letter, smiling as he recognized the script.

Sighing slightly, Mave reached for parchment and pen. He had known that this transition would be hard for Alessandra and had even flirted with the idea of leaving her out of it altogether. But he knew that she would have never allowed that. Smiling slightly at the thought of her stubborness, he began to write:

My dearest Alessandra,

You must speak no more of the Order in written word unless it pertains to official business. Trust me on this m'dear. As for the mutual friend whom you fail to name, I will be detained with a good many things for a few days. After they have been settled, I will send word and we will dine with this friend. Be safe.

Walk in Honor,
Lord Mave Gerhart
*closed with the seal of House Gerhart*

Climbing the steps to the roof of the keep, Mave slid the letter between Belegohtar's claws as he lay soaking up the sun.

"Watch her house from here" Mave said to the dragon. "Give that letter only to Alessandra and do not approach the house until you see her in person. I don't want to draw undue attention to her home."

As the dragon turned his head to watch the house across the way, Mave went back downstairs, grabbed his cloak and walked out the door, springing astride a great white bear. With a single motion, they began off towards Vesper at a brisk pace.

From one of the third story windows, the servant watched as Mave disappeared into the woods and with a sad shake of his head went back to dusting the dining room.
