With surprise and swiftness the Dark Order aided by Isk and his men, marched into Vesper in the feluccian realm. The villiagers could only cower in their homes probably thinking the worst has befallen them. Tarothin saw many shutting doors or windows and smiled to himself.

He had the troops scour the town for any resistance, but like many days previous scouting for any, the town was defenseless. Too long has it stood without true leadership, without true laws or order his soldiers noted and he could only agree.

Quickly he had people annouce throughout the town that they were to follow and serve the Dark Order. That they now have true leadership. That our laws are now their laws. That they have nothing to fear unless order and laws are not kept. That they are under the Dark Orders protection.

Announcements were also made for any within the town that wish to enlist in the Dark Order, that they will be exempt from all Taxes.

He sent a message back to Dark Cove calling forth craftsmen to build fortifications and outposts near the town. Patrols were set up to encompass our new extended reach. There was no resistance this day but he will not assume that there won't be another. They will not be caught unaware.

The townsfolk should have seen this comming for a while now. It was all a matter of time.

Once the area is secure enough, the next step of Tarothins plans will come to be as his eyes looked towards Minoc briefly.

So it begins...

The night was deathly still. The ranger could feel the stillness in the air as he quickly made his way through the last leg of his patrol in the Felluccan side of his patrol route. He heard the numbers before he even reached Vesper.

The Warden of the North was rather saddened by the sight that befell him as he neared the top of the last hill before the bridges of the city started. The elf dove instictively into the brush, covering himself with his own comflauged cloak, barely missed being seen by two dark clad horsemen. He watched them go quietly. This was peculiar indeed.

He crawled through the brush over the top of the hill. Keeping hidden, just as he had countless times before. His father always told him, "If they don't know where you are or that you're there, you still have an advantage." He was not so sure of that this time as his eyes watched the force dressed in dark clothing, bearing symbols of the Dark Order, from Cove. The place was cursed. As was this blasted army that had marched in, seemingly intent on occupying Vesper. He watched in stunned silence as the great city of Vesper fell without a whimper.

By the virtues....I was right. There would be an invading force in Britannia. Yet it took the form of Dark Knights and Mages. Eldan heared approaching hoofbeats, possibly another patrol, looking for those who had run, or those that saught the ones who would fight their oppression. His keen elven ears could pick out the words..."Sweep the area! I want them alive!" By the time the would be patrol reached his position, Eldan was long gone. Running full flight around the perimeter of the city, bow in hand, ducking behind trees, moving faster than even the best human scouts could hope. This was his home, the forest. These Dark Clad humans had commited a crime that must be paid for. But, the first order of business to find out the nature of those he opposed.

These thoughts ran through his mind as he ran just within the treeline. It was then he saw their fortification they had seemed to just begin building. Formal occupation it would seem. No orcs, just humans. This is a stronger evil than I have known. They work so endlessly, so organized. The ranger quickly and silently moved up into a perch on a large limb above him. He could see the outpost quite well with his sharp elven vision. Even in the night. He could probably loose a decent shot...

Eldan quickly began writing on a small scrap of parchment, one used normally for marking trouble areas. This was a different intent all together.

To those in Occupancy of Vesper:

You have commited crimes against the people of Britannia, by forcefully occupying the City of Vesper. The reasons are not clear, nor should they matter. The people's Northland Militia hereby demands that you withdraw your forces immediately from said city, else there will be grave consequences.

This will be your only warning.

Signed,
The Warden of the North.

As he finished scribbling the letter and was signing it he saw torchlight not far from his current position. Eldan quickly tied the letter to a special arrow for such tasks and took aim at the broad side of a wall on their recent fortification, and let it fly. Hoping it would be seen.

The elf lept from the tree, moving silently and with inhuman haste through the forest, heading to his compound. He must alert the Militia. There was a greater threat that must be thwarted. He would also need to notify the leaders of the surrounding cities. So they may be at least some what prepared.

The time of war had descended.....it had begun.[/i]

...came across Blackbeard's face as he stroked his beard* I smell profits in the air. *Blackbeard looked once again through his spyglass at the city of Vesper, watching as the forces that had massed near, now went door to door.*

Mave patted Belegohtar on his broad shoulder as he watched members of the Dark Order file by, marching towards Vesper.

"It is time once again my friend", he said with a nod of his head, letting the dragon carry him to the beginning of the column beside Tarothin.

As they entered the city, Mave drew his blade and bowed his head for a brief moment to the Honor of battle, while at the same time praying that there would be no resistance. Warriors he would battle, but the thought of having to kill farmers with no fighting skills, only trying to defend their homes... that he could not think of.

While they searched the city, he tried to take every opportunity to give the citizens reassurance... to comfort them and let them know that they would now be safe from the brigands and lawless of the land, that now they were truly safe. But more times than naught, he was met by closed shutters and frightened looks, and could barely get a word in before they fled.

With a sigh, he circled back around to the city center.

"They just need time" he told Belegohtar. "They will understand when the city runs more smoothly and they can feel safe walking the streets once again."

As he neared the gathered members of the Order and Isk's followers, he halted the dragon for a moment, gazing around the city and at the soldiers noting that none carried any bodies back or wielded bloodied weapons.

"Maybe killing will not be necessary this time" he whispered as he began moving again... though in the back of his mind, he feared this would never be the case...
