August 54, 364 (present day)

The Lyceum glistened in the moonlight still in shock from the recent invasion by the allied forces of Isk the Magnate of Magincia and the appearance of The Lich Lord Darrien Church.

Nights had become silent and peaceful now, many of the students had left the university after the initial attack and rain of blood that followed…now small dedicated batches of students studied quietly in their rooms while professors and a small detachment of militia stationed there kept ever vigilant.

Adrien Church, Verity Island’s resident priest of Honesty had in these recent times taken to spending most nights at the Lyceum, consoling and reassuring those who needed it and using the peace and quiet to catch up on his mounting sermons.

Sadly…that silence was about to be broken.

The alarms sounded nearly instantly, as much confusion mounted as to who the black cloaked figured standing ominously in the centre of the courtyard was, but Adrien had no doubt.

“By the Avatar…run…students…run! Go find the Mayor!” Barked Adrien nearly trembling with fear as the school’s inhabitants emptied onto the roads and began in a mad dash for the city.

“Uncle…” Adrien whispered catching a glimpse of a bust of Professor Darrien Church as he wrapped around a frantic corridor before a small piece of marble landed flat on his head knocking him out cold.

“Where is the Oracle of Truth!” Screeched the Lich Lord, as streaks of entropic energy poured forth from his finger-tips striking the walls, floors, and statues of the Lyceum, while he processed unopposed into the school’s massive archives.

Books flew with lightning speed off shelves by the Lich Lord’s very will as he seemed to grow more and more agitated his quest yielding no results. Suddenly the room began to tremble slightly as he let out an ear shattering scream and vanished in a blast of entropic energy.

Meanwhile across the city…

All available Moonglow Council members ran with great haste in the direction of the Lyceum led by Fong and Samon Triest following the blast at the Lyceum until their attention suddenly turned to the white tower of Moonglow as a second blast of purple energy lit up the night sky.

Moonglow Militia filled the main chamber of the tower quickly surrounded the Lich Lord shields and swords drawn as Fong prepared to unleash an array of spells on the Lord of the Undead. Until Samon in err made an attempt to diffuse the situation by speaking to the Lich.

Samon quickly seemed to be dying under the will of Lich Lord, his skeletal hands wrapped tightly around the man’s throat as dark fluid poured forth from his mouth and his eyes lost all color.

"Fool...he is hidden here...we know this! The Oracle must be destroyed...the prophecy must be undone... The Lich Lord began to ramble frantically to the confusion of everyone in the room.

“You shall grant us passage now…” Hissed the Lich before releasing an ear-shattering scream, that brought the militia in the room to their knees. Fong relented as well, lowering his spell-book as The Lich Lord dropped Samon and seemed to dissipate into the air.

The Lich Lord was furious as he gazed out from the roof of his mountain citadel overlooking the ruins of Rivendel.

Extending it's long skeletal arms out across the midnight sky it arched it's skull back and released a terrifying roar:

"Aleph!"

"We know he is here! Tell us where he is!" With that, he bolted awake. It had been hours since the ordeal with the lich lord, but the event still haunted him, even in his dreams. He got out of bed, dressed himself quietly, and quietly left the inn in Moonglow.

He walked along the streets of Moonglow, alone with his thoughts due to the lateness of the hour.
His mind raced from point to point as he thought of the event that had happened. At first he had not remembered a thing, but as the night went on, he remembered piece by piece what had transpired.

He remembered the lich lord grasping his throat, choking the life out of him. He remembered needing the assistance of Yolen just to stand up after. The lich lord had been on a rampage.
"Why does the lich think Aleph is here? Aleph is a name that is long since been placed in the historic tomes." he thought to himself. He was worried. The lich lord had come through Moonglow and just decimated everything in its path. The Lyceum had been hit hard. The Priest of Honesty, Adrien Church, had been critically wounded. No one was sure if he would make it through the night.
Samon himself had felt the power of the lich lord more than he ever would have wanted. "I wasn't even near him, and he almost killed me. The power! It is just unheard of!"

He had just been standing there. He was trying to recover from the strangle hold the lich lord had already applied to him when out of no where, a pain shot straight through to his heart. He had felt like he was going to die. It felt like the lich lord had shoved his boney fingers right through the skin and bones that protected his heart. He felt what seemed to be a hand grasp his heart... He was lucky to be alive. Lucky the lich lord was not fully concentrated on him. "This is not good for Moonglow..not good for Verity. Tomorrow, I need to talk to Fong. We need to get a plan in place in case this happens again..."

Rhiannon followed the militia to where they came across a horrible, frightening monster - a lich lord! She had not seen one like this before. Things transpired between Lord Fong, Samon, and the Lich. None of it made any sense to her. She watched as Samon and Fong handled the situation. She could see why Lee had spoken so highly of the council...they were brave, noble men. The Lich finally left. Samon was wounded and Rhiannon watched his men care for him. What comradity! Once it was agreed that things were calm and that Samon would benefit greatly from some rest, Yolen helped Samon home. Rhiannon was frightened and Lord Fong suggested a bottle of wine to lighten the mood. She agreed, smiling, and walked with him. Her admiration and respect for him grew tremendously that eve. He was so brave and honorable.
