This is directed to mules,

But I want to know how the new ore and wood spawn changes have affected crafting?

Also, would people prefer the spawns back the old way?

What other changes in crafting, ore/wood spawns would we like to see?

I can understand why they did this to our spawns. But it really didn't stop the scripters. It only made more hassle for normal folk. On the up side, I like getting more gems. But, it isn't enough to make me happy for the change. I curse that none of my mining books work the way they should anymore. It takes me 4 times as long to get the ore I need.

I also wish tailors could make bags out of leather. I still don't understand why they can't.

Whats the point... crafting is damn near worthless anyways, unless you pump out barbed kit leather or val hammer weapons. They really have made crafters useless. They destroyed the crafter when AoS came and the further destroyed it with repair deeds. Now they are just pissing on the grave of the last of the crafters.

I like the extra gem drop as well, the leather bags. I always wondered about that myself. I basically tossed my books for mining etc, nothing spawns how it did.

They had to do something about scripters. Was the only logical way to slow them down. Unless we come up with a better method this is probably the best way. My runebooks that i paid a bundle for years ago are junk.

i couldnt say how it is since i havent done any mineing in a month, or lumberjacking for way longer. im still working off the resourses i got from the last time i went "strip mineing". as for crafters being useless i dont think they are overly since it beats haveing to look for furni everytime i decide to remodel the house(s) which is like every other month. as for mineing books i think i used them maybe a couple times in the 7 yrs i've played.. my mineing books only get me to the mineing area to do my mineing.
i gave up trying to go to specific areas to mine a specific metal long ago since 99% of the time its been cleaned out already.
2.2 to go to legend smithy. Confused

I'm just saying smiths had so much more use back when you used to hang out at the Hammer and Anvil and item id stuff for people coming back from the dungeon and ACTUALLY DOING repairs not just selling repair deeds. Back when GM smith ment something.

I'd spend lots of time talking to people just hanging out at hammer and anvil getting 100gp tips for repairs hehe, that was fun! and selling platemail and heavy archer suits(hehe remeber those) on my vendor.

I remember hanging out at brit forge making repairs for gold, and I used to haul cash that way. The again I also remember when valorite gm armor was like the thing to have along with vanguishing weapons. I have been hearing a lot of complaints about the new spawns for ore and wood.

Too bad Atlantic has such a concentrated amount of hackers/scammers. Would you really hand over that nice, new weapon you love to some stranger to repair?

I seriously do miss walking to the forge in brit to meet with a smith and get all that I need.

And the fact that there was always one there..

I feel when they changed things it lost a bit of the spontaneousnous of interaction. I made soem great frinds rping my smith. Ok I am gonna write a story and may quote some of you, if anyone does not wish to be quoted please let me know if need be I will edit the story.

Some of my best times playing UO were with my blacksmith, Cypress, and hanging out at the Britain forge. It was really fun and sociable.

As far as people handing over items to be repaired, there were a lot of people who were pretty trustworthy and it was never an issue most times. If there were scammers, they were scared off pretty quickly due to everyone saying what they were and often times people would even put it in their profiles if they were regulars at the forge.

So much fun, though.. I loved UO back then.

Ah, the nostalgia thread! Smile

UO was so much fun back then because of the interaction with other people, even if you got scammed, robbed or PKed on occasion... it was really just part of the adventure even though it could also suck. Sure there were scammers, but many smiths had good personal reputations and I never had an issue with getting repairs.

The trammel split was before my time by a year or so, and I'm sure it changed a lot but AoS was really the final nail in the coffin as it fundamentally altered so much of what made UO, UO.
