Handsome man, good gracious he is a handsome man! Rhiannon thought to herself as her horse, Frisky, carried her through the streets of Moonglow towards the grassy knoll next to the blacksmith shop. She enjoyed practicing her spells there. It tended to be a very social area as many citizens, council members and travelers passed through regularly. Often, many stood around conversing and sharing ideas. She had met some interesting people there. This evening, she was hoping to run into one particular person…

Frisky stopped at the knoll without instruction. He knew where the young woman wanted to go. Rhiannon hopped off Frisky and skipped to the middle of the knoll. She was disappointed as there was no one around except the town crier.

She sighed and began practicing her spells. Both kinds. Her guardian, Lee, was teaching her magery skills. Nice spells. Powerful. However, Rhiannon had been dabbling in other kinds of spells as well. She had received a few instructions from a stranger in another land on this type of magic. All she had now, however, was the book he had given her. She felt she had all the information she needed to learn the rest. She dared not tell Lee. What would she think about the dark magic?

Rhiannon practiced and practiced, still no one passed. After using all of her mandrake root, she walked over to the bank to collect some reagents from her bank box. When she turned around she saw someone that made her heart begin to beat a bit quicker. There he was…the man she had hoped to see.

She walked over to him, hesitantly –shyly. She was blushing already.

Hello, he said politely. Did you enjoy your visit to the telescope?

Her blood began to flow quickly through her body.

So, you do remember me!

He looked at her oddly, as though he did not understand why she would say such a thing.

She found herself nervous – at a loss for words. She was usually so confident around men…but this one – this handsome man – was affecting her in way she had never experienced.

He offered another tour of the island and she happily accepted. After the tour was over they returned to the bank area. She was disheartened when he said he had to leave for the evening. But then – he hopped over the garden fence and picked a flower which he offered to her. Her heart was racing at this point…she must have been blushing scarlet red!

When she returned home she laid on the couch gazing at the flower, lost in pleasant thoughts. She then began to pick apart their conversation. Had she been too forward? She must have seemed like such a child to him…She is 22 years old and she acted like she was 16! She sat up nervously as her thoughts bantered back and forth.

You stupid, stupid girl! Get a grip already! Have you ever acted this way around men before?

No.

Well, why act so childish around this man? He is just a man! You know how to handle men!

True…but being around him just…I don’t want to treat him like other men. I want to…to…Oh, I don’t know. And I doubt myself!
She looked at the flower. He is such a gentleman – and the flower – but, what if he was just trying to be nice? What if he has no interest in me and -

Get a grip! You’ll never gain his affection if you don’t stop acting like a child. Turn on your charm! HE IS JUST A MAN!

Rhiannon nodded to herself and laid back down. She looked at the flower, wondering about the meaning behind it. Was he just being polite? Or was the flower a sign of interest?

No, not JUST a man…she smelled the flower and closed her eyes. Oh, Lord Fong…I do hope to see you again…
