As he rode home from his date in Umbra, Gen thought of an experience he had a few nights ago, and he could not get it out of his mind...

It was a typical night in Dark Cove. Gen had just recalled to the keep to see if anyone was around, namely his recruit, as they had much to discuss on getting her up and running to be an important asset to his division, and mainly, the Order itself. He found no one there, instead, there was something...else.

His drow senses picked it up, not strongly but faintly...whispers, sounds, like speech, in his head. He knew that he was perfectly sane, so it was not him merely hearing things. He felt a coldness in the room, as it brushed against him. Was there an intruder in the keep? If there was such a fool, then he would be dealt with swiftly without a chance to react and without retribution. He quickly armed himself and raised his hand, "Vas Ort Flam!!", he chanted, as he held the explosion steady, ready to release it.

Then, it appeared...she..appeared. First a light mist, then slowly materializing into a woman, from the waist up, her legs, still a mist. Standing in front of a statue, she seemed to be, mesmerized, touching it, seemingly oblivious to the fact she was being watched by Gen, who was at this point, simply stunned. A wailing, eerily musical sound emanated from her as she continued to study it. Gen lowered his hand and extinguished the flame. He decided to investigate, as it seemed to not want anything, or so he thought. He would be at the ready just in case.

He slowly walked up to her, moving behind her, he could she was the shape of a beautiful young woman. He moved in closer to get a better look, and just as he was within in touching distance, she turned to face him, instantly turning into a mist. "Don't go..", Gen said to her. She then materialized back into human form, this time, her entire body was complete. Her skin glistened as if it were perspiring and she was completely nude. He spoke to her and asked "Who are you, what do you want?" She merely shifted her head to the side as is she did not understand.

He touched himself and said: "I am Gen, Gen." The wraith started to form the words from her mouth.."Geeee nhh." Gen nodded and smiled "Yes, pointing to himself Gen!" She smiled mimicking his nodding and movements "Geeeehnn!", she said again. He then gestured to her "Who are you?" She paused for a moment, as if in thought then she started again "Seeexxxkor, seeeekkoorr!!!" Gen looked and said, "Seeker?" She nodded and smiled continuously. Gen had heard the stories of shadow wraiths, some hunters, some seekers and he had run across the latter of the two. Seeker were know to lure people to their deaths or for another purpose. This one, seemed to have another purpose..

She turned away and began touching the statue again as she did that, Gen walked behind her whispering in her ear, "Statue." She spoke again, mimicking his whisper, "Staaadooo." "Yes", Gen whispered, "Statue." She turned to look at him, her eyes wondering, seemingly curious about him. He slowly brought his hand to her face, touching it gently, it was ice cold! He internally warmed himself and looked into her eyes, they did not change only watching him, what he was doing. She mimicked his moves also touching his face, her hands as cold as her skin, but he did not let it bother him. She placed her hand upon his chest and he began to feel..strange..as if something was being drained from him. He realized she was taking his life force, unintentionally. He jumped suddenly and she moved her hand in reaction. He shook his head slowly, taking her hand and placing it back to his face.

He thought to himself that she was indeed capable of taking life if she chose to, and he would have to be careful. He placed his hand back to her jawline, tracing it slowly, and drew himself closer. She rubbed her face against his hand and looked at him drawing herself closer. As her body pressed against his, he could not help but feel how cold, how empty she felt, a deep sadness was there. He gently touched his lips against hers, at first she stood there unmoving, not sure of what it seemed that he was doing, she then closed her eyes, and kissed him back. She backed away slowly, touching her lips and smiling, leaving Gen completely speechless. She then laughed a light, playful laugh and begin to dematerialize. Coming to his senses, Gen started after.."No...don't go.." As he finished his sentence, she turned into mist and disappeared.

Gen thought to himself and smiled, "I get the feeling, I have not seen the last of this one, this...seeker." He then raised his hand casting a gate to head home, back to the jungle of Trinsic....

In all those years that this changling, this seeker Shadow Wraith had been, it had only communicated as a Shadow Wraith. Almost completely forgotten was a language spoken in her life before this existance. It was her life long ago and it was unimportant to the seeker wraith. Just as any life was to her now.
It went mostly on instinct. On nature. On it's own, it had learned to categorize things. Shadow Wraiths as a whole, Hunters, Seekers, Live Ones, and Objects. Recently she added a new category but had no word in any language for it, it was the one that she was drawn to and obeyed.

As a seeker, a changling, she had instincts beyond those of just destroying that with life. She mimicked. It was her nature. This gave cause for exploring and studying things around her. And so, she was curious.

It happened that one day while she roamed and watched the keep, she came upon one of the live ones that she must not destroy. She was curious. Even opening her mouth as if to try to speak aloud. This live one spoke to her. At first in warning and then softly. This new soft tone toward her by a live one was of a behavior she had not experienced. Solidifying for a more define look at his eyes, she noted something that she recognized. It was a signal to her that this live one would be very easy prey to lure. He followed her around the room. He tried to teach her to speak. She began to remember, not much but enough. It was difficult for the Shadow Wraith to vocalize words correctly after all the years. Finally and slowly the words formed. She told him as clear as she could what she was...
Seeexkkorr
He told her what the word for live one was....
Geehnnn
He told her the word for object....
sttaaadoo behnch
She told him of....
hoont errr

She mimicked his facial expressions back at him. She mimicked his touches. She had to stay formed, materialized most of the time for this communication lesson. Her body, only use to and only wanting it's comfortable state of coldness, began condensation. The warmer she got, the more pain she felt. Not from the heat, but from the lack of being her form of cold shadow.
At one point this live one attempted a facial contact with her, but she had pulled away. The temptation to bring his form into destruction was too much for her at times. She had to back away. His light, is color too strong. She wanted to put out that painful light.
Yes, this live one made for a good source of knowledge. She would have to seek this particular live one out again. Maybe at some point the one she obeyed would allow her to lure this live one to the other...the hunter.
