"My Lord, a message has arrived, delivered by an oddly equipped soldier." announced the clerk when he entered the room serving as Lord Barl's office. "I could not deceipher the seal, but it appears your lordship might find the spider symbols .. intriguing."

Upon unravelling, the scroll reads as follows:

My Dearest Barl,

It has been a long time since we have had words together, maybe too long. Unforgotten are the evenings we have spent in conversation. I do hope you have not forgotten those times, and I believe it is time we rouse the skeleton and spoke - in private as is custom.
I ordered my servant to remain at your locality until he receives a reply from your hands, I hope that does not cause any interference.

I remain in expectation of a quick response.

Lady Valena L'Aridn

At the far bottom of the parchment the reader can make out a dark purple stamp with an exotic spider symbol.

Ceinwyn was going over the daily reports with the innkeeper when she heard news of a stranger loitering around Barl's necromancy tower. With this most interesting news in mind, she made her way to the tower to speak to this stranger.

After questioning his business, she sent him on his way to the inn. She glanced down at the seal on the parchment.

I'll not tolerate servants of Lloth having dealings in our realm... I will need to speak to Barl about this.

She placed the letter on Barl's desk, knowing none would dare touch it. Then she headed back into the town to arrange to have the strange messenger watched.

Noticing a sudden influx of activity bussling in the most unusual of places, Nightshade could not control herself.

Curiousity brought her to the spell tower, where Barl and she had spent countless hours practicing one spell or another.

Apprentice yes, but Nightshade was no fool, and upon glimpsing the letter laying amongst his things it took all she had not to open it and peruse it for her amusement.

Yet she quelled herself and looking it over, a grin on her face said sweetly....
Whats this? A spidery love note for the Lich? Shaking her head a bit of amusement on her face she left hoping after opening it he might tell her what it was. Though, doubtful.

The Lich-Drow made his way up the steps of his tower in Umbra. As he entered the room that had become his office, a scroll caught his eye that had not been there before. Upon examination, it bore symbols that had not been common in his life for a long time. After opening the parchment and scanning the lines of writing within, he sat down to write his own response.

Valena,
It has been a long time. Last we spoke you were a matriarch, has that since changed? I am now the head necromancer of the city of Umbra. I also maintain contact with as many of the surface Drow as I can, which includes you. You said you wish to discuss something, send a notice with the details of the matter and we shall do so.

-Barl De'Abreago
