Lee sat on her roof top sipping a cup of milk and munching on some freshly baked muffins. She did this most mornings. Morning was her favorite time of day. The sun rose persistently from the horizon and Lee breathed in the fresh morning air. With the exhale of this breath she began to reflect on last night’s events.

It was a refreshing change of pace. She and her guildmates had put on skits for the Mayor. She thought of Daz’s role as King and chortled. Her thoughts began to drift towards wedding plans but Lee disciplined her mind and continued her reflection.

She thought of Beowulf’s young, naïve daughter who had played the role of a lost child. It was a befitting role. The little girl had struck Lee with a sword in one of the skits. Lee had retorted with a fire ball – small, of course – so as not to hurt the little girl. The girl had giggled. Lee grinned, shaking her head dismissively, and thought, “Beowulf has his hands full with that one!”

Lee took another bite of her muffin. Next, she thought of Captain Joseph running around in a dress. She let out an uncharacteristic guffaw at this memory and coughed a bit on a muffin crumb. She took a sip of milk to help wash it down.

After the skits, Daz and Lee had accompanied Yolen to the bar. Drinks were had and some silliness had prevailed. Lee rubbed a small knot just above her right ear. She had slipped off her barstool once and bumped her head. Or was it twice? Lee shrugged lightheartedly and smiled slightly at the morning sun rays dancing across the table.

Lee finished her breakfast and directed her thoughts to today. She thought of things that needed to be done and of things she wanted to do. She believed she could accomplish all of these today. She decided she would begin her day by preparing the announcement of the Baccalaureate program. This evening at the guild meeting, she would proclaim the program ready to accept students. Lee hoped for a big response. Knowledge is such a vital part of a great society and she wanted to aid Moonglow in this journey.

Lee nodded affirmatively and began her day.
