The wind blew every which way. It cris crossed through Alonwynn, waiting for her to accept it. The air was becoming less patient for it’s newly elected weaver. The air knew its purpose, it just became ever more insistent to its rejecting weaver. Swirling around the girl it waited its patience waning. Every brush against the cheek was another attempt to be acknowledged.
She walked the coast still watching for “her” ship. She no longer spent all her days at the coast, just windy ones such as today. Looking out on the horizon she still wished to see the boat come in and dock. Only when the incessant wind in her ears was too much to bare or worse yet when it would simply stop blowing all together having given up for the time being. Leaving her in silence. Today the wind was unheeding. She walked the coast just to be sure Wisty’s ship wasn’t there. She was about to tend to her beasts when she heard the soft voice over the wind.
“Alonwynn,” it said simply. Alon turned slowly to towards the voice that called her and nearly stumbled when she who the voice belonged to. It was Wisteria. She stood there bold as brass and as beautiful as ever.
“Wisty! I knew it. I knew you’d be back!” She charged the woman standing in front of her for an embrace. She didn’t seem to notice that Wisteria was only half formed. As Alonwynn reached Wisty she attempted to hug her. Her arms fell through the half formed spirit, landing Alonwynn on the ground. The pain that now hummed through her body didn’t compare to the ache that resumed in her heart. She stayed laying upon the ground for a moment chiding herself.
“How could I be so stupid. She is dead. I -saw- her die! My eyes are just playing tricks on me.”
“Only half true Alonwynn, and with your help I shall make that statement completely false. Come with me,” She extended her hand to the fallen Alon, “There is much to do and no time to do it. I see that you have not embraced the gift I bestowed upon you, Judging by the ferocity of the wind. But no matter.” She smiled as Alonwynn got to her feet. “Come and take a walk with me”
Alon at her friend thinking to herself,
If this is a dream, I never want to wake
The women walked the coast together, Wisty, in her spirit form, explaining and Alonwynn listening. They laughed and talked for hours on end. |
