Hello again,

I am trying to develop a new character to serve as my RP character and I've ran into a dilemma. Because of volunteering at my local fire company, sometimes I have to drop everything and go on a moment's notice. I am trying to implement this into my character as a weakness that would explain me having to just up and leave in mid scenario.

Some examples of ideas I have had are:

My character suffering from epilepsy. I thought seizures would be a good "no warning no notice" way of taking my character out of his surroundings. The only problem I have with the idea is that it doesn't really remove my character from the scene, it just lays him out.

Another idea I had that I like significantly less but it removes him from the scene is having him be some sort of limited connection to the material plane, having his prime existance in an astral plane. Basically, when I need to go.. his connection to Sosaria would time out Razz I like this idea somewhat because it would allow me to just recall out and safe-log somewhere. I don't like this one because honestly I don't like the whole "astral being" part. I think its too much of a stretch. But anything is possible.

Narcolepsy was another thing I considered... it would be more of a comical way to explain things.

Another thing I was thinking about was how people would accept me just leaving in the middle of what could be an important RP plot or some such. I'm curious as to the opinions of you all on how that would work out Smile

Any help would be appreciated.

To me, this one does sound to be the better one. However, similarly I don't like the idea of an 'astral being' either. However, the char could have found some way to cross over from another shard, which on occasion sucks him back.

Or you could just play a rude character and be just like "Ok, i'm done talking to you, bye."

Hehe, I thought about that too.. but I don't like being rude. Well, at least, this character isn't designed to be rude. Plus I want to tie an in character reason for sudden leaves. I figured I'd go more for a weakness than anything else because every character needs a few weaknesses.

I tend to play comedian no matter what their role is, so I am leaning towards narcolepsy...

Narc would be funny and unique. Also gives you a quick and doable reason to go AFK without notice. Some people meditate... you slump and fall on the ground in a deep slumber!

Just let him wear a purple shirt, black pants and name him "Jeff". Then you'd have a reason for your narcolepsy.

I'm sure he didn't add that in there by choice, perhaps it was an unforeseen repercussion of his previous post? Razz
