The ritual, turned to be a political meeting, tedious at best, Merci stood watching and wishing with all her heart that Ceinwyn was there. Even Myrddin had not been able to attend tonight. Merci was barely listening to what was said.

It was as if she had heard her call…

Ceinwyn quietly entered and Merci’s ears picked up the familiar footfalls of the Matriarch, the sound she had made it her duty to know. Turning quickly from the alter before her, her relief clear she let Ceinwyn take her place. She could feel the joy in those around her, for the glimpse of their hallowed Matriarch, Orianna, the kitsune moving close.
*************************************************************
After one meeting there was another in the halls of Umbra’s great sepulcher, the icy walls comforting Merci as Ceinwyn spoke to Myrddin and she, her words belaying her inherent strength, her orders soon to be carried out. The cold aura that surrounded the Matriarch had always drawn this warrior of ice, the chill almost like a warm blanket to her.

Make it known that Umbra has two Matriarchs.

The words rung out and Merci was still in shock, Myrddin was even taken a bit aback. She was set to rule with Ceinwyn, to support the duties of Matriarch when Ceinwyn was unable. The honor hit her like a sword to her chest and she bowed her head in greatfulness.

Merci will not question my orders, and she will be loyal to me. The words were so true, she was ever loyal to the Matriarch and warmaster, and would see that Umbra prospered.

And Umbra would rise, Blessed is the Darkness…

Ceinwyn stood on the roof of the Sepulcher, gazing across the chasm to the city of Umbra.

And if anyone questions my word or actions...

A brief chuckle emitted from her throat.

... then my collection of trophies shall simply grow...
