Just curious as to who still plays since my depature? I've noticed a few here and there (Isk and Talon to name two) but other than that *Shrugs*. I gave up on UO for awhile and went to play WOW for a few years, finally got bored of the game and its politics and came back to a world full of people I don't know. *Smiles* Luckily Molly and a few others have brought me back up to speed on the game and I'm currently retraining Cedric and Hatori.

If anyone wants my ICQ to say sup, or maybe give me some more advice. Pop me one at 9151702

Sadira is still around...I believe we had a couple interactions...maybe nothing as noteworthy...as some of your others..I think she hired one of your characters for something...

Long story on the whole Hatori/Cedric thing. Basically there's people that I didn't want to know it was me so I payed for a rename from Cedric to Hatori. Then later on I decided eh screw it. Who cares, and made another Cedric.

But good to see you guys. Was hoping to see more of our oldschool brethren. Light or Dark it matters not, only seeing famuliar faces.

Running the second largest horde guild on Thorium Brotherhood kind of does that. Guild got to big for its britches. Well it was fine till Burning Crusade then all the raids turned to 5-25 mans and we had 120 people heh.

So as I'm bored and sitting here letting sheep beat up on me for all the past offenses I had on them in my homeland of Scotland... (Kidding) I was curious if spellcasting is worth picking up. Hatori is GM necro/mage and I'm contemplating dropping Necromancy for the new spellcasting ability. Some of the bonuses seem like they are highly advantageous (SP?) but then again so are some of the necromancer abilities.

Thoughts?

spellweaving is mostly a good thing for pvm..I wouldn't use it for pvp.

Personally I perfer necromancy, guess it depends what your play style is.

Mairsil is correct, if your going for PvP, I'd stick with Necromancy. Spellweaving has a few abilities such as Essence of Wind that make it worthwhile in group combat, however it would be underutilized for anything but PvM.

I've heard of its use in PVP to great success, but we are talking about felucca tactics. If you are good with paralysis in order to get a spellweaving spell off (they take ages to cast, which is why they are not normally used in PVP) then they are good, but in the RP community you are looking at group vs group 90% of the time... And then, in group warfare, wouldn't you prefer Billowing Death, aka Wither? Below my post will be a screenshot of what a guild full of necromages can do in an enclosed area. Keep in mind that even one necro can use Wither to great success to interrupt a ton of mages, or spam it to scare off meleers.

So, yes, necro is full of group vs group, single versus single, and hell, single versus group spells. The debuffs are amazing, the utility is great, and you can't scoff at a 30 damage spell that goes off nearly instantly as a finisher. Necros are probably the sickest duel and gvg template out there, if done right, for both casual (rp community) and serious (pvp community) fighting (though note that when I talk about necro in PVP, i generally am referring to duels or gank tactics, and more importantly, I refer to crazy 'out there' templates like necro ninja mages, which are really not that uncommon).

Spellweaving has spells that are all PVM utility because they cast slow and, if not INTENDED for pets, work BEST with pets; my tamer was absolutely amazing with spellweaving plus pets, as I could heal them with bandages, gheal, the very fast regeneration spell, and if THAT failed, have Gift of Life on them and click 'okay' to bring them back un-aggro with half health for easier heals. So yeah, PVM utility. Little use beyond that. Get it in RP level PVP only if you want Gift of Life, and even then, recasting gift of life a lot during rp is amusingly 'twinkish'.

There's some template ideas for you with a brief description of each, and also a rating on their PvM/PVP ability, as well as their gear reliability and difficulty to make.
