Title: The Generous Knight
Author: Rufus Oryan
In the town of Trinsic lived a man named Thaddeus. Thaddeus was a great warrior, one of the King's finest men.
Thaddeus had won many battles, seen many places, and met many people. But when his city was in trouble, Thaddeus forgot about everything he had been through so that he could protect Trinsic.
Thaddeus lived with his wife, Karen, and his daughter Nola. Every item in their house had gold trimming it seemed and their cupboards were stocked with the finest foods. Thaddeus was a very happy man when he was away from war, so he and his family enjoyed all they had and often threw things away when they were done with them. But, when they threw things away, food was half eaten, toys were half played-with and gold trimmings had not yet lost color.
One day, Nola ran into the house, "Father, Father, some mean old boys said that you had to go to war again, and I'd never see my father ever again when he left!" Thaddeus could see on his daughters face that she was saddened by what the children said, so Thaddeus decided to teach these boys a lesson and find them, and tell them that lies are bad. Thaddeus hugged Nola in his large arms and said, "There, there my child, things aren't as they say, your father is right here."
Thaddeus smiled and Nola stopped crying. The large man then stepped from his door, and went off into town to find the boys. All the townspeople liked Thaddeus, and everyone spoke to him and smiled. After walking around the town, Thaddeus gave up on his search for the little boys. As Thaddeus turned to make his way home, a young man of about 15 ran up to him and said, "He...Hey, Aren't you ThaThaddeus the Knight?" Thaddeus smiled at the boy and nodded, "Yes I am, how can I help you?" The boy looked to him and replied, "Welwell sir, I have a note from the queen and she wants you to come to the castle as sooo.soon..as you can." Thaddeus smiled at the boy and gave him about 5 gold coins for his trouble.
So Thaddeus made his way to the castle to see the Queen. When Thaddeus reached the castle, he was very tired. He made his way to the throne room, where the King and Queen usually sat together (because that's what kings and queens do). This time though, the Queen sat alone, looking to Thaddeus with tears in her eyes.
"My husband has gone, I don't know what to do, you're his favorite knight, do you know where he is?" Thaddeus had no idea where the king was, so he shook his head and told her no. "I will go to find your husband Milady. Where was he last seen?" said Thaddeus. The queen looked to him with her wide blue eyes, He was off to the woods to find the bandits that harass the people and steal their things." Thaddeus clenched his fist, and spoke, "Then I am off to the woods to stop these thieves and find the King." After leaving the Castle, Thaddeus gets on his horse and rides off into the woods. The woods of Trinsic are usually filled with Orc, ogres and trolls. But this night things were very quiet.
The sound of the wind blowing and rustling of leaves could be heard all through the forest. Thaddeus heard a bush shake, "Who goes there?!" Thaddeus then drew his sword and dismounted so he could protect himself.
Three arrows flew from the bushes, Thaddeus quickly jumped out of harms way and rushed towards the brush. The Knight thrust his sword into the bushes hoping to scare the attacker away. From the bus runs a man who looks fairly old, but a scarf covers his mouth.
While running the man blindly turns and shoots an arrow in Thaddeus's direction. Thaddeus dodges the arrow and runs toward the man. As he tackles the older man, the two roll on the ground for a bit, and eventually the old man gives up. Thaddeus pulls the man close and whispers, "Where is the King?"
