Title: A Demand for Change

Author: Lord Thomas Paine

A Demand for Changes in Foreign and Domestic Policy

Fellow citizens and lords of this fair land: I am writing this document because I feel that it is my right and indeed my duty as a citizen of this good land to make my voice heard when I believe this great nation is heading into grave danger.

Therefore I must demand that our leaders, whose first job is our protection, whose first concern is our safety, in whom we have placed a sacred trust: that they will always and in all things act first in the best interests of our welfare; change the misguided policies that have for so long lead us towards disaster! I shall list these policies here:

1. The eradication of Orcs, a fellow sentient species.

Many people have justified this with the fact that orcs have attacked humans. But humans have also attacked orcs and invaded orcish lands. Perhaps orcs use this as justification for their attacks. Others have used the orcish practice eating human flesh as a reason. But some human have eaten orc flesh. Is this really any different?

2. The suppression of those who disagree with official policies, or are different, or who have different ideas. Many people have been MURDERED just because they disagree with the official policies of this realm or are different in some way; such as many members of non-human species and the followers of the Doctrine of Chaos. This must be put to an end IMMEDIATELY!

Instead of pursuing these destructive policies we should instead:

1. Make peace with the orcs.

This is is of the upmost importance, as then we will not have to devote valuable resources to fighting this senseless campaign of exnocide, and is not peace more in accordance with the Virtues and the Philosophy of Order, and even with the Doctrine of Chaos? Peace is also more sensible from an economic stand point, as with peace there would be new sources of labor, new sources of goods, and new markets, among other benefits.

2. Bring to justice those humans that turn against their own species by making their living by murdering and robbing other human that have done nothing wrong to them.

How is it possible to justify the slaughter of the orcs when there are many dangerous domestic criminals whose crimes are much worse than that of the average orc?

3. Punish all those who intentionally kill ANY innocent, and only those that do or are directly involved, not the entire group.

To often, when a band of orcs kills those in a merchant caravan that had intruded on their land (not a wise decision as orcs are very territorial) or raids a town in retaliation for a human attack, humans make no distinction between the group that killed the humans and orcs in general, often killing many orcs that did nothing to deserve their anger, while the group that carried out the crime sometimes goes unpunished.

Also, some humans kill innocent, friendly, intelligent beings just for fun or to take their belongings, never mind the hundred or so orcs that are murdered each day! These people should be punished as the criminals they are, for how can we expect our friends to help us if we allow are citizens to freely murder their citizens and get away with it?!

Something MUST be done about these deplorable circumstances NOW!

Signed,

The Lord Thomas Paine
