Title: Rosetta text

Author: Unknown

The language is truly old for it is primitive; it lacks tense, pronouns and word variety.

This results in many words having different meaning based on context, this makes translation somewhat difficult. For example "eht" might mean "be, been, was, were, has been, will be, etc. Also, names or proper words seem to be capitalized and enclosed in brackets.

The only other capitalization that exists is when the first letter of a word is capitalized, in means "the (whatever word it was)." "^" seems to mean on, at, as, to, toward, or "in referance to". "!" appears to be mean "not" or opposite. Below is the directly literal translation of a story to the current tongue from this ancient tongue. I do believe this story may have been the source of common children's story I have heard before.

In a former time, the best minstrel of the land lived. Not a man played a harp or sung better than Apeth. Apeth walked in the forest, playing the harp and enchanted a girl Drevma and Drevma enchanted him. Apeth took Drevma home and they married and lived well in the town. Life in the town did not enchant Drevma and Drevma was called to the forest. At that time a beast of the forest was attacking livestock of the village.

Hunters formed to find this beast. The hunters, the beast, and Drevma gathered. Drevma did not allow the hunters to kill the beast.

Drevma moved between the arrow and the beast. Drevma died and became a tree.

Apeth traveled to the forest and observed what Drevma had become. Apeth cursed the hunters and played the harp black and sad. Apeth was lost to sadness. The gods that formerly found happiness in Apeth playing the harp found sadness and appeared to Apeth. "Search the world and find the veil, enter the netherworld and find Drevma." The villagers thought Apeth mad and said "Fear traveling to the netherworld, fear finding its inhabitants, do not travel to the netherworld, you will find death" Apeth searched and found the veil and entered the earth. Apeth enchanted the ether and a door appeared.

Apeth did not find Drevma in the underworld and called to the inhabitants to help search. The inhabitants agreed if Apeth showed the door to escape. Apeth found the Gods of the underworld and spoke the story. The Gods were angry Apeth allowed the inhabitants escape to the physical world but found happiness in Apeth playing the harp. The Gods allowed Apeth and Drevma to leave, but Apeth must promise not to look if Drevma followed. This was very hard Apeth had not seen Drevma in much time. Apeth traveled to the door and did not look. But before leaving temptation possessed Apeth.

Apeth looked at Drezma in true form, a magic dryad of the forest. The door sealed, but this was not important to Apeth.

Apeth embrace Drevma and was happy. Drevma embraced Apeth and was happy. The love was so strong it enchanted the ether and the door opened, and they left the underworld. Apeth and Drevma did not leave as man and woman but as one spirit. Emotion and magic together, the name of the spirit became known as mana.
