Krythan's Story - Part Two by Krythan

I approached the blue light, thinking it was a friendly wisp that would lead me back to town. It wasn't a wisp, though, it was a moongate. There was no grass around it, so I figured that people had been using it for some time. " It must be the Yew Moongate I've heard about" I thought to myself. That didn't help me any, for I had no idea where the Yew moongate was located. I hesitated a moment, then stepped through. After a flash of dazzling colors I found myself in another forest, but it was nothing like Yew. The trees were different, it wasn't quite as dark, and there was a road nearby. I spied a travler coming up the road and ran over to him, asking him where I was. He informed me that I was in Moonglow. I told him how I had gotten where i was, and after glancing up at the fading sky, told me that I would have to wait four hours for the moons to be in the position for the Moongate to open back to Yew. I figured that I would just stay in Moonglow; I had been there before on a trip with my uncle, and knew where an inn was. As I stepped through the gates of the town, I immediately noticed a beautiful young woman talking to a richly dressed man. I think she noticed me looking at her, because she motioned for me to come over. I did, and she asked me if I was lost. I slowly nodded my head, and she turned to to the man and said " Let me help this kid here, Darin, I'll get back to you on that offer ." The man said in reply " Alright, Tigress, I'll see you tomorrow, then." and he turned and walked off towards the teleporters. Tigress, turned to me and asked where I was from. I told her that my hometown was Yew, and her eyes lit up. " Yew?!" she exclaimed, " well then, you must be a student at the university?". I shook my head and replied that I knew nothing of a university in Yew. She immediately replied that she would have to take me there, and chanted some words and flailed her arms around, and soon another blue gate similar to the one i had came through opened up. She took my arm and lead me through, and we appeared beside a small house, near a road and a little inland from a bay. I asked where we were, and she replied that we were in West Yew. I had never been to this part of Yew because it was a long way from home, and the bridge that spanned the bay was torn down by serpents and had never been repaired. I knew that a few farmers lived in the area, but I had no idea that there was a University there! She led me inside the house, and introduced me to a beautiful woman dressed in a fancy green dress, but without shoes. " Silver, " she said, " I'd like you to meet my new friend....umm, I didn't catch your name...". " Krythan", I said with a shaky voice. " My new friend, Krythan", she finished. Silver smiled and stood up. " Have ye a seat there, lad", she told me. I sat down and Silver and Tigress went outside to talk. They came back in after a few moments, and Tigress informed me that she had urgent business to attend, and that she would be back in the morning to check on me. " I guess that means I'm staying here tonight? " I asked. Silver nodded and lead me out the door as Tigress chanted more words and made more gestures before she vanished. She lead me to a nearby farmhouse, where there was laughing and yelling going on. We stepped inside and everyone stood up and got silent. She introduced me and stated to the guys in the hut that I was going to be staying the night. as she turned to leave, I grabbed her shouldner and asked " Hey, what's this place called? " She smiled and said " West Yew University ". With that, she calmly turned and returned to the house, where she stopped to chat with the vendors that were standing near the steps. I turned to the people in the hut and they all greeted me warmly, and gave me a pillow, blanket, bread, and milk. As I ate, I told them what had happend to me, and they all seemed to agree that I should pursue my magical abilities. " I'll think about it. ", I mumbled as I made my bed and prepared to get some much needed rest.

Well, that's how I came to be associated with WYU. Hope you enjoyed my tale...perhaps I'll write more about my life some other time....
