Title: Song of Valor
Author: by Canto Canzione
Here is a riddle cast in steel: Tell: which one hath more of strength -- The well-armed knight in grand parade? Or the shepherdess who bides at length?
She doth! For the night is long, And full o' wolves, and dark and deep! While he, though armed and armor-clad Doth naught of worth but strut a street.
For Valor's not of metal made, But tests the mettle of the heart. And seeketh not the strongest arm, But one who'll bear the greatest part.
More than shimm'ring shining blades, More than shields, all great and strong -- Instead, an e'er unyielding will: So is sung true Valor's song.
