MINOC IN TALKS WITH
MINING FIRM
In an effort to revitalize the state of Minoc’s local economy, the Atkins Mining Firm has made an offer to take over operations of the town’s assets and modernize its mining practices. Talks are inconclusive as town spokesmen try to find a middle ground between maintaining its autonomy and seizing future economic opportunities.
WOMAN MAIMED IN HORRIBLE CAT WASHING INCIDENT
Following a poor error in judgement, 87 year old Opal Mayhews of Yew was savaged by her 75 pound Siamese by the name of Snapping Pussy, when she attempted to give it a bath. The elderly pensioner is recovering at the local healers and expected to regain consciousness in the next few days.
MIDDLE-AGED WOLF-BOY SAGA ENDS IN BITTER-SWEET RESOLUTION
Repeated attempts to
assimilate 40 something
year old wolf-boy into
human society have
ultimately failed, as
adoptive parents resolve
to return Reggie back to
his pack in the
wilderness. “We have
become so attached to
him”, says adoptive
mother, Joyce,“ But,
decades of living amongst
wolves has ingrained in
him certain behaviors that
can’t be unlearned; like
when he drags his
hindquarters on the living
room carpet.” Reggie
will be released early this
week with a small number
of well-wishers present.
MURDER SUSPECT AND
WEAPON DISCOVERED AT
CRIME SCENE
On Saturday June Twenty
Sixth, The Order of
Drunken Elders hosted a
Clue mystery game at
their Falling Waters
Fortress. Fifty million
gold was awarded for the
grand prize in solving the
mystery. Players had to
investigate, and correclty
name the person, place,
and murder weapon.
Lita revealed Hendall as
the suspected murderer
who used a longsword in
the slaying at the
Crafting Hall. It was a
lot of great fun with
consolation prizes being
awarded as well. Thank
you for the mystery,
ODE!
HANTON FARM CURSED
Local Yew farmer, Jacob
Hanton, his land, and
livestock allegedly fell
under a gypsy cursed as
of late. He initially
sought help from the
Knights of the Crux
Ansata, and is rumored
to have spoken to Lady
Danica Amandine herself.
We were informed that
he unsuccessfully sought
additional assistance from
old friends that lived
across the land while his
wife and kids were safely
housed with close
relatives. Latest events
indicate the curse was
ended with the farm
lands south of Yew
returning back to normal
with the aid of the
Knights Of the Crux
Ansata. Some questions
linger aconcerning the
incident and why it
occurred, but the family
is still unsettled following
their recent ordeal and
has no comment at this
time.
LUSH HOUSE OPENING
Sunday, June
twenty-sixth, is the grand
opening of a new tavern
in the lands! The Ode
Lush House opens it's
doors for the first time
with Aulbrey Loveless in
charge. We here in Yew
know of Aulbrey's
reputation, and as of the
writing of this article, we
wonder if there will be
any booze left for the
grand opening event.
Needless to say, she does
know her drinks, as well
does the Order of the
Drunken Elders. Good luck
with the tavern and may
it bring great merriment
for visitors for years to
come.
NOSTALGIC
TAVERN EXPERIENCES
REAWAKENING
Serpent Cross Tavern opened on the day of May 1st, 1998 by a man named Perianwyr Stormcrow. This patio tavern has stood at ground zero of some of the greatest epics and events that have occurred in the Atlantic's history. From the days it has opened and till this very day, neutrality in a place with so much action was enforced by the barkeeps of the tavern, its very name standing as a symbol of community and goodwill. Serpent Cross, over the years, saw its barstools and dining room as host to literally thousands of plotlines and brainstorms, verbal exchanges and debates about ideas and concepts which would fall to nothing or later come to fruition in the form of new guilds. Most of those words came from a man named Greypawn, who did a fantastic job as a historian. When the tavern opened, Perianwyr was forced to make new furniture every night for the tavern, due to the incidents of people stealing what was made the previous night. This in turn was, when the gods took interest in the tavern and helped out by blessing the furniture so it can no longer be stolen. Over the years, small cluster of buildings sprouted up around the tavern and it's clearing. FogWood Village was brought to life with a library, alchemy lab, caterering business, and stables.
The tavern still stands, whereas all the other buildings were lost in a huge storm following Perianwyr’s decision to move from FogWood after eleven years of living there.
In recent days Serpent Cross has experienced greater activity with frequent casual visits. Saturday night marked an celebration at the tavern following a successful Clue game that ODE hosted for guests to solve a murder mystery. The tavern in its heyday used to have running hours from nine pm eastern till eleven every night. We shall do our best to work the hours again or just offer a drink to whomever wishes to drop in and say hello.
A new set of housing is
building up around the
tavern these days as
well, by the guild of
Wheel of Time. We are
curious to see what the
future will bring for the
old Serpent Cross.
Last May marked the
Serpent Cross Tavern's
fourteenth anniversary,
and we would like to
thank all the people who
have helped when the
tavern had gotten so
busy at times. We’d also
like to thank the
bartenders throughout the
years that made things
happen. Perianwyr
Stormcrow, Lilliana Rune,
Renee Garthond, Tobin,
Shiela, Vander Vol, as
well as many others that
time.
Regards, Hendall
