The Created

by Charon, Atlantic Shard

In this essay I will be detailing the creation and proper roleplaying of one of the most tortured of souls. The creature I speak of is one created from the dead body parts of several people and given life through some dark magic or science. If you've read Frankenstein you already now a bit of how such a creature should act.

Background:

A few things should be noted before we go any further:

The created aren't stupid, in fact they can be quite intelligent and may wield magic provided the brain they use had some magical ability.

When Frankenstein's Monster was created, they did not use a "Climinal Blain" (translation from b-movie to English: Criminal Brain). Rather the creature was turned to a life of evil deeds after being shunned by a shallow and cruel society. Don't make your character part of the stereotype, explain what happened to cause him to wish harm on humanity. Don't cheat and blame it on a climinal blain.

Now that we have that out of the way, you must decide what the circumstances surrounding your creation were. In the magical land of Britannia, dark sorcery is just as viable an explanation as unbelievable breakthroughs in Tinkering or Alchemy. Your character could have been made in a number of ways, the only limit is your own imagination.

Perhaps you were created by a powerful necromancer who for some reason deigned to grant you self-awareness. Or perhaps you were created by a young healer who hoped to impress his teachers by performing the most spectacular resurrection of all time, or perhaps you were created by a mad tinker who did it just because he could.

Now you should realize that your character is at the very least extremely ugly, if not hideous. You are a social outcast, a complete pariah, not because of some crime you've committed, but simply based on your appearance. You've probably decided that since you are getting the reputation of an evil man, perhaps you should at least deserve it.

This is, of course, is simply the archetypal form one of the Created takes. If you wish to change anything to suit your character concept then great, creativity is most important. Perhaps the process of bringing a piecemeal corpse to life was refined in your case? Using powerful polymorphic magic your creator could have made you the epitome of beauty... but an unnerving alien beauty, either inspiring seething jealousy or instant, fawning loyalty.

Game Mechanics:

The Archetypal Creation should have prodigious strength, but be a bit slow moving due to the incompatibility of your limbs, each one having come from a different corpse. Since you can't roleplay an embittered monster intent on taking his frustrations out on the humans while being entirely useless in PvP, here are several PvP-compatible templates, and an RPed explanation for the skills.

The Savage Brute

Your creator took no care to ensure you received a proper education, nor that the brain he used was completely intact. You were meant for manual labor and as such, more attention was paid to making sure your anatomy was balanced and that you had a full range of motion.

Rogue Familiar

Your creator was a powerful mage or necromancer who used you for both manual labor and for help with certain mystic rituals. As such, care was taken that you would be able to think clearly as well as be capable of great feats of strength. You learned a great deal about magic from him, as well as methods in which you could read minds to a limited degree. You could assess their intellect and also disrupt their concentration enough to nullify their spell resistance.
