Seers of the Moonstone

Copied from the original by Gabriel, Scribe of Yew I’ve lost count of the years that have passed since the eruption that sealed the Abyss, although I have felt every passing moment in the depths of my soul. I have seen the end of my own life, and the day is drawing ever closer. Ever since our departure my thoughts have rested solely on the events that transpired in the nightmarish pit, and I have come to certain conclusions since that day. It is with a trembling hand that I commit these thoughts to paper, so that they may not die with me. Will the world benefit from my writings? My dreams have failed to show me. I can only hope that I am not reminding Britannia of things that are better left forgotten.

Sadly, I will have to begin this writing with two words that I had hoped would never be uttered: Tyball survived. Well, perhaps ‘survived’ is not the proper word to use. Indeed he is dead beyond any doubt, slain by the Avatar himself. But I have learned that with the recent reopening of the Abyss, amongst the first to reenter the pit was one of Tyball’s misguided followers. This follower recovered his remains and sacrificed his own life in an attempt to bring his Dark Master back to the realm of the living. Fortunately, he did not realize that this is a near impossible feat for any mortal mage. But still, he succeeded in some degree – Tyball rose once more, although little more than a shadow of his former self. But he is growing stronger day by day, and his followers growing more numerous. The Seers are all but extinct, and many of the Britannian scholars who might have known his name are now long dead.

I shall now move on to another related matter. For those who have not studied the history of the Abyss, there was a mage by the name of Vilus. In his living days he was not only the most brilliant mage in the whole of the Abyss apart from Tyball himself, but he was also quite insane, barely able to utter a coherent sentence. As I recall, he met his death on a lower level of the Abyss during a magical experiment of some ki----
