The Sacred Totems By Shalish-Aseem

Every living being is watched over by the sacred animal spirits of the world. Each person is also granted a guiding spirit that watches over them and gives them signs of warning and advise. These guiding spirits are a persons sacred animal totem. A totem animal selects its charged for common traits it has with the person. A person is not born with their totem, but must under take sacred rituals and rites to be deemed worthy of receiving the blessings of the animal spirits. This series of rituals is called the sacred hunt. A sacred hunt can only be performed by a speaker of the totems, the Mo'gur. The sacred hunt is comprised of the following rites, The guardian's trial, the spiritual cleansing, the final path, and then the receiving of the totem. These rituals are performed at sacred places in the motherland of Ilshenar. The rituals themselves are forbidden to be written in word and may only be passed on verbally, or by painted image. The names of those who receive their totem and their totem names are then scribed upon a sacred stone of the clan.
