Make New Haven your home and learn were all the shops are.

To buy items from NPCs click NPC, select [buy] To sell items in your backpack to NPCs click NPC, select [sell] Find the Blue Named NPCs that say “Quest Giver” below there Blue Name.

These will offer you a Quest to help them find a location within New Haven. Accept the quest and walk to the place they need to go. The NPC will follow you and upon arrival, will thank you with 500 gold pieces (500gp). Not a bad start and you will learn your way around New Haven and be able to help the next new player you meet.

After a few Escort quests, you may want to try hunting wild animals for hides, feathers and other resources that will make a bundle of gold.

First, buy an inexpensive knife from the Blacksmith NPC called a “Skinning Knife.” This very special knife is made for skinning hides. Next, equip your Skinning Knife or dagger and walk thru town and into the woods to the south and kill birds, goats and other small animals you see. This will help the townspeople who are unable to control the animal population while providing you with resources to sell and make a lot of gold. After killing a wild animal, you will need to skin it for its hide, meat, wool, and especially feathers, which are all valuable resources to the townsfolk. Do this by double clicking a small blade like a dagger or skinning knife and targeting the corpse.

Then remove the hides, meat, wool, and feathers and put them into your backpack. The hides are very heavy so use scissors to cut the hides in your backpack into stacks of much lighter leather. Do this by double clicking the scissors in your backpack and targeting the pile of hides, Walah! It’s done.

The skinning knife is great for skinning animals with hides because if you equip the skinning knife, holding it in your hand, and double click the skinning knife in your hand and target the corpse, it will automatically cut up the hides into leather pieces and place them into your backpack, wow! That saves a lot of time and clicking.

Take breaks whenever you like. You are the boss.

Help a lost person find there way, hunt wild animals; sell your hunting resources when you are ready to do so.

To sell your hunting resources, find an NPC who will give you the best price for your goods, try a few and get the best price you can for your hard-earned goods. Tanners usually need leather, Tailors and Weavers want wool, Cooks and Innkeepers will want to buy your fresh cut meat, and the Archery trainer in New Haven is always in need of more feathers for his arrows.

If you like, you can venture out through the moongate to Trammel, Malas, Ter Mur, and Tokuno Islands Makoto-Jima gate to try and sell your goods at a better price. Beware! of the Felucca gates, they are very dangerous with players who are murderers. It is best to wait until you meet some trusted friends to visit there. There is no need to carry all your goods because each town has a bank so you can access your storage if you decide to sell there. No matter how you do it, you will make lots of gold, meet many new and interesting people and learn lots of valuable information about the world of UO.
