+ | '''June 20, 2000 It was the evening of the Black mass and the priest spoke in a dark voice:'''
+ | |||
+ | "I also wish to speak about this ridiculous trial the followers of lies have brought against Mesostopheles. These insidious charges find their roots in a deep fear they hold against all who stand in the night. They are so false that the very core of these allegations stinks of the rot of putrescent fish decaying in the sun. I cannot tell thee enough of the contempt I hold for Greypawn and his lackies for bringing these ludicrous charges against our brother. Lo, here and now do I proclaim that the laws of man hath no bearing against the servants of Darkness and do speak with harsh warnings against those who think themselves capable of tying down to their justice that which hath been given to Oblivion. In response to this travesty we will shed the blood of innocents tonight to show our contempt."
+ | |||
+ | And behold were slain three innocents, and lo upon their lips were curses for the names of Greypawn, Windlord and the city of Yew... for their souls were devoured by Oblivion gone forever because of the capricious attempt of mere mortals to judge a child of Darkness.
+ | |||
+ | '''June 1, 2000 The lands burst with the advent of a new age. The forces of Darkness have decimated those of the light.'''
+ | |||
+ | '''A short story''' | ||
+ | |||
+ | The Dark priest sat in the halls of the church quietly perusing various documents that outlined recent events and his plans for an expansion into the realm Lord British thought he could escape to. A sinister smile covers his face as one recent particular item comes to attention... "I must find some suitable place for Azrielle's skull... Greypawn's skull, however, is serving nicely as the doorstop to the lab" thinks the priest. The recent destruction of the lands of Felucca has brought numerous souls into the midst of the undead; it is with intense satisfaction that the priest recollects the recent fall of their enemies.
+ | The priest sends fourth missives to his minions throughout the land... The Harbingers of Light and their allies will soon taste of defeat once more. Let the land run red with their blood and the wind chill with the hopelessness of their fates.
+ | |||
+ | Time boasts the greatest power of all, that of forgetting... everything is eventually lost in time; even the wandering events that have so drastically changed the form of this land are prey to the whims of time. Is it no wonder then that we have chosen our fates as we have?
+ | |||
+ | '''May 10, 2000 ''' | ||
+ | |||
+ | With trepidation have we recently watched the decimation of Lord British's treasured realms. The final retreat of the despot king towards another realm has turned over the land to the forces of Darkness. It is with immense satisfaction that we do now watch the final end of all those who dared oppose Oblivion.
+ | The change of leadership and control within the realm has left Felucca, as our realm is now called in a somewhat vacuous state and devoid of direction. Towards the end of addressing this problem and opportunity, the Conclave of Darkness intends to pursue a number important directives that the council has ordained should come to pass. Heed thine senses well mortal, for though doom hath visited thee already once in overwhelming glory, now it is thine very life and existence that now hangs in the balance.
+ | |||
+ | '''Older News''' | ||
+ | |||
+ | As mentioned above, forthcoming soon to these pages is a discourse on the lore of Oblivion and the deep rituals observed by the priesthood of Oblivion. To be included is a list of the High Priest's sermons and a presentation of a few of the more common rituals observed by the guild.
+ | |||
+ | A foretelling of things to come happened recently when the city of Trinsic was overcome by the wrath of an army of undead... hardy warriors from all around were quick to attempt its rescue and all failed for many many days. In the end, a very large and significant battle seemed to route the undead. Yet one can only wonder what things were wrought in the city whilst the people of the land were cast out from their homes. I have had visions of an ultimate victory of Darkness and its taste has wetted my soul's hunger for more information. Beware those who follow the light... happenings such as these can only portend thine end...
+ | |||
+ | Last week saw a strange apparition in front of the Church of Oblivion. Indeed, for the eight ghosts of the virtues did appear before the church and brought omen of things to come. The clergy was swift in its attacks against these perpetrators of false ideologies and vain hopes. It remains to be seen what their intentions are. We expect more visitations from them but cannot be sure as to the end they aim at. Suffice it to say that the forces of the night must needs be vigilant and persevere against foes that would seek to bring disharmony to that which unites the Night.
+ | |||
+ | And so we breath this word of warning:
+ | |||
+ | Beware. Beware ye who would dare stand in the way of Darkness. Her wrath is horrible and the end she brings about to her enemies unspeakable agony.
+ | |||
+ | The clergy is pleased to welcome amongst its ranks Delgariath. Delgariath hails from an interesting background that will no doubt feed his wrath greatly. Oblivion is pleased.
+ | |||
+ | Last eve's mass was a glorious success... visitors from abroad came to learn and fill their minds with the wisdom of Oblivion.
+ | |||
+ | Indeed, Kail was most pleased when he left the church promising to come again with friends next time. The Darkness comes.
+ | |||
+ | The night unfortunately ended with the Yew Militia coming fourth with all kinds of ridiculous accusations. They claimed to have seen us kidnap Kail. Weak mortals are expected to lapse like this from time to time. I tried to lead them in the right direction but it was difficult. The undead grow quickly restless when the scent of life is near. We still cannot find the remains of some of those who dared search the tower.
+ | |||
+ | The day hath seemed overly long these last few moons. My servants tire at being forced to work in the heat of the sun. Tis perhaps a function of their mortality... not all are destined to the glories of Oblivion. I find it endlessly amusing to see them suffer at a task they do not know will destroy them.
+ | |||
+ | Disturbing news hath come to us from the Halls of Aragothias. Indeed it seems the hallowed halls of the ancient have come under the scrutiny of an ancient greed.
+ | |||
+ | The Dragonkin are about and their goals cannot be anything but nefarious to our own. We will put a stop to this. This must be stopped.
+ | |||
+ | The Darkness will feast on them in the end. Nothing can stop the glorious end that will come to Britannia at the hands of Oblivion.
+ | |||
+ | Blessed is the Darkness.
+ | |||
+ | Progress on the Codex is going well... my minions have unearthed new segments of the Tome of Death in an old section of Covetous. We will be adding it to our library soon. *evil smile*
+ | |||
+ | Sweet death it seems will come soon ... and perhaps after a fashion that will surprise some.

+ | This from a wandering healer:
+ | |||
+ | A strange new graveyard is being built on the Isle of Ice. What seems to seperate this graveyard from the others of the land is that it seems to have been built by the creatures of dungeon deceit themselves. This certainly settles one debate, these things are not only sentient, but highly organized. Their political structure alone is amazing. From my studies i have learned that they are all controlled (those residing on ice island outside of the dungeon) by a powerful liche and his personal minions. These recent developments seem to warrant more research. As soon as i finish my studies of Elementals i plan to dedicate more time to these undead. This may be quite soon, as i see no progress in finding a reason for the recent rise in the Earth Elemental population.

+ | |||
+ | Treachery most foul within the Yew Militia's ranks!
+ | |||
+ | With a heavy heart I come to report that on last eve, one of our mostdedicated has deceived us.
+ | |||
+ | Interrogations of the prisoner Kail, were to be preformed last night at the Yew jail. These interrogations were to be held by Sergeant Malicite, a veteran of the Militia.
+ | |||
+ | To my surprise, he whirled for the door, and assisted the prisoner tofreedom! They raced out of the prison, through unknown passageways, and disappeared into the darkness.
+ | |||
+ | If Kail was so innocent, then why did he leave? And now he has anaccomplice, who he has converted to his evil ways. Yes, Kail has spread evil to fellow sympathizers like a cancer.
+ | |||
+ | Sergeant Malicite and Corporal Kail must both be brought to justice. If they are seen, they are to be apprehended or killed on sight.
+ | |||
+ | Justice will prevail in these dark times for Yew's citizens!

+ | Yew Militia and Friends Seek to Aide Their Comrade
+ | |||
+ | It was earily in the morning this pacicular day at Serpent Cross Tavern. There were five of us gathered around the table refering to the recent events in Yew. Around the table was Windlord, Rictar, Talon, Will Ghostal, and myself Lieutenant SunWolf. We were talking of the mysterious man name Friar William and after that the curse on the militia member named Kail.
+ | |||
+ | Kail was the only corporal in the miltia at that time and it was a great loss to lose him in this time of need. Windlord suggested the idea of using the shrines for curing him of this curse. We all pondered on the idea and then we worked on which shrine would be the most effective. That was easy to concur since he sacrificed himself for the protection of Yew, it makes since that his main virtue is sacrifice.
+ | |||
+ | At that very moment we spotted Kail outside the tavern window. It was quite a surprise since he was all on our minds. His green miltia colors were dull white. We hurried out the door and tried to aproach him unthreateningly.
+ | |||
+ | Once he saw me coming though, he took off running. We all searched the woods and Windlord was the first to find him. We caught up to them and they we talking. After fellow miltia member Talon convinced him that we meant no harm, he agreed to come with us to a shrine and off we went.
+ | |||
+ | A moongate trip later, we were standing at the Shrine Of Sacrifice. Talon had more convincing to do there to get Kail to actually say the mantra. When the "Cah Cah Cah " was spoken unpon the shrine, nothing happened, but after we all stared in sadness Kail was appeared to be having a internal stuggle. He casted teleport and left the shrine. After we pondered more ideas, we noticed Kail was talking as though two people inhabited his body. We hurried him back to Yew since that is his home and it might help also.
+ | |||
+ | Kail was talking normally and friendly at that point. We thought we almost had him back. Whatever had happened to him was most definately a strong force. We only had succeded in separating two beings inside of Kail for a short time. Kail insisted that we take him to somewhere safe where he could not harm anyone. Though none of us wanted to do it and we thought of other places to take him, Kail insisted that he needed to be locked up. I arrested him and we all escorted him to the Yew Prison. Once he was locked inside, we lost him completly; the evil inside him sprung out and took control of him.He was no threat since he was locked away and I had relieved him of any reagents, weapons or armor. We left a guard and informed the jailor of his arrival.
+ | |||
+ | Windlord called an open council meeting in Eldanor while Will Ghostal,Rictar, and myself met with Garish Dragon at the Yew town hall. Both parties opened a communication link between us and a secret meeting was held on Kail's rescue among other things.
+ | |||
+ | Let us all hope an answer is found to this madness.

+ | |||
+ | It was a typical night, just like any other. Light from Brittainia's orbiting moons shone through the windows. The usual crowd that frequented the Serpents Cross Tavern had thinned considerably. Only a few patrons remained scattered about the structure.
+ | |||
+ | At one end of the bar, Sarip Dupre was scribbling on a bit of parchment. Probably writing another poem, I thought to myself. I was sitting at the opposite end of the bar. And finally, seated at the large table in the middle of the room, was Elric of Rune.
+ | |||
+ | Alright, I said to myself as I began to feel some slight tension growing inside of me. When he gets up to leave, just ask him.
+ | |||
+ | Mere minutes later, Elric rose from his seat and dusted himself off. He glanced in my direction, turned, and proceeded to the door.
+ | |||
+ | "Elric, a word with ye, please," I said.
+ | |||
+ | "Of course. Step outside with me."
+ | |||
+ | I nodded and lifted my exhausted form from the barstool. Elric held the door for me as I stepped out into the night air. A few of the common sounds attracted my attention: a nocturnal bird chirped a tune, while a bear grunted as it searched the woodland ground for grubs or fallen berries.
+ | |||
+ | Elric's voice caught my attention again. "Yes, Corporal. What is it?" He sounded a bit annoyed, and I couldn't blame him. I expected him to have just as much intention to strike me down where I stood as he did hearing me out.
+ | |||
+ | I sighed and began explaining to him my intentions. "You see, I'm sick of having to constantly watch my back for you of The Skull. So, I have a proposition for you. " I fiddled with my Militia insignia as I spoke. "I'm willing to give myself up to ye, if you grant a full pardon to Yew."
+ | |||
+ | Elric nodded slowly as I concluded my bargain. "I see. Your sacrifice is a noble one, but I have no say in this. The Bishop will be here in a moment to further conduct this dealing."
+ | |||
+ | I nodded and took a seat on one of the outdoor benches. A few momentspassed, and Treadeau Du'rome materialized a few meters away, and Elricexplained to him my proposal.
+ | |||
+ | "Very interesting," I overheard Du'rome say as they both turned in mydirection. He lifted his hand in my direction. "Come with us."
+ | |||
+ | Du'rome opened a moongate, and before I even stepped through, I could feel the cold eminating from the Tower of Skulls. I shivered as I emerged from the opposite end of the gate. Yew was cold, but Arctic Island was much, much colder. I looked up and saw Golgotha rise like a monument upon a desolate plain; Truly a horrific sight to any mortal.
+ | |||
+ | I followed Elric and the Bishop to the roof of the tower, and I could feel fear slowly creeping into the bowels of my soul.
+ | |||
+ | "Stand in the middle," Elric said as he directed me to the pentagram, the centerpiece of the roof. I took a breath of the cold air, and stepped onto it. Elric headed back down the stairs, as Du'rome kept a watchful eye on me. My abilities to detect evil were causing me to glow an iridescent cerulean. Yet that glow suddenly brightened tremendously.
+ | |||
+ | "Ah, the Lich Lord is near," Du'rome said. "This does not bode well for you." He cackled as I realized Azalin's presence caused me to glow so brightly.
+ | |||
+ | My back was turned from the stairs, but I could hear the Lich Lord's feet against the stone. Elric followed him to the roof.
+ | |||
+ | "Greetings, mortal," Azalin said from behind me. "What is your purpose here at the Tower of Skulls?"
+ | |||
+ | I paused, at a loss for words.
+ | |||
+ | "Speak up, Corporal," Elric snapped in my direction. I began to speak, but the Lich Lord cut me off.
+ | |||
+ | "Turn to face me, cretinous mortal!" I took a deep breath, ignoring the cold that lingered in my chest, and turned to face him. I found him hideous, yet strikingly powerful. He stood only somewhat taller than me, yet I felt like a dwarf in his presence. I explained to him my intentions.
+ | |||
+ | He scowled in irritation. "One soul. You give me one soul, yet you expect an entire city to be purged of darkness?"
+ | |||
+ | I nodded. "Basically, aye."
+ | |||
+ | Azalin sneered at me in disgust. "Your soul will do nothing more thanperhaps lead more of your kind to us."
+ | |||
+ | I narrowed my eyes and swept away a tuft of hair that had blown in my face. "Well, I suppose it's too late for me to run, isn't it?"
+ | |||
+ | "I'm afraid so," Azalin answered with an evil grin. "You realize that your precious city will fall, don't you?"
+ | |||
+ | "No..." I began, but found myself once again at a loss for words.
+ | |||
+ | "Nothing will be spared from the shadow of the Ebon Skull. Your sacrifice is not the first, and definately not the last, of many." He turned to his right. "Vyktr, proceed."
+ | |||
+ | I noted that the Eroded one had appeared at his master's side, and several other followers of the Skull had gathered to observe.
+ | |||
+ | Vyktr slit his wrists, and allowed the blood to flow into a goblet. Heapproached me.
+ | |||
+ | "Drink this, and your soul will be mine. Without my blood, you will die a slow, painful death."
+ | |||
+ | I took the goblet, prayed a final prayer to my deity, and downed the blood.
+ | |||
+ | The night sky seemed to turn as bright as day, and my glow faded to nothing. I felt my own willpower begin to slowly slip away, as the knowledge of the Ebon Skull filtered in.
+ | |||
+ | "Now," The Eroded one said. "You will inform me of anything and everything the Yew Town Council or the Yew Militia does. Is that understood, ghoul?"
+ | |||
+ | "Yes..." my willpower tried to fight it, but to no avail. "...My lord."
+ | |||
+ | Both Vyktr and the Lich Lord smiled wicked smiles, and I was ejected from the Tower of Skulls, to begin my quest.

+ | In only a few days, the bloody raids will begin. We have prepared for this moment for years and years, our members are quite familiar with the undead, and things that go bump in the night. Our hearts are strong, caring, and very much geared to doing the right thing, at all costs. Our resolve has been tested time and again, and I know that in the face of danger, we stand tall and proud - even if we suffer the losses that would otherwise break a guild.
+ | |||
+ | I have been watching the dark ones gather, I visit each night (usually...) and assume the form of a broken tree branch, or perhaps a stone, sometimes even that of a crippled animal, near death. (Anything less would appear 'out of place'). I watch how Azalin and his minions torture the souls of the unsuspecting, or those who were stolen away from their homes, their loved ones... never to be seen again. Such atrocities are the reason that we are here today, doing what we do. Sure, I love peace and harmony as much as the next guy, but to turn our backs on this monster and his forces, would be a crime in and of itself.
+ | |||
+ | Aye, the forces of Akalabeth are as ready as they will ever be. We have summoned all of our forces, called our brethren back to the village - ceasing their vacations, retreats, and whatnot. The time for war is at hand, and in only a few days... we will come crashing down upon the Ebon Skull members like the fiery hands of God!
+ | |||
+ | Silently I pray for all those who will inevitably fall, never to rise again. My heart already feels the pangs of hurt, and my eyes... are already dampened from the tears that I know will flow freely that day. Be safe, my loved ones... be safe.

- An Undead Crier
Den of Iniquity
It has been a dark year for the people of Yew, one rife with tragedy and toil. Their lives were unexpectedly cast aside by the will of Lord Blackthorn and his evil ambitions. It was Blackthorn’s plan to reclaim Britannia with the aid of a strange and distant being…Exodus. His armies soon made their mark. First came the Juka. As result of an alliance with Blackthorn and his master Exodus, the barbaric race of warlord and mages swarmed into Britannia. They occupied Yew and enslaved the townspeople, and though the protectors of this land united to fight for their freedom…it was in vain.
Next came Blackthorn’s legion. The elite dragoons, betrayers, and juggernauts that served him without question. Their enhanced armors and tactics made them perfect support for the Juka, whose victories in Britannia came less and less often. Their suppression of any opposition secured the evil hold on Yew and its people.
Lastly came the plague. The Decay spell brought on by the Meer in an attempt to destroy the Juka had gone wrong…and the effects of the miscast were soon noticed. The lush forestland soon faltered into a marshy swamp. The earth itself turned against them, spawning creatures of ghastly appearance and power. Bog things and plague beasts rose out of the ground, composed of the parts of living and dead alike. Sickness overcame the inhabitants. The plague came and in its wake it left nothing but death…and weakness in the integrity of the surrounding lands…
The plague was cured and Blackthorn’s legions driven back to Ilshenar, and despite it being a swamp, life in Yew soon returned to normal…but the weakness remained…
The essence of Oblivion is forever scouring the realms to fill every cavern, crack and crevice with dark and foreboding energies. It is forever enticing and seducing willing and unwilling mortals, wretched and good alike, into its wicked grasp. No single life or soul is spared the sensuous and ultimately fatal caress of Entropy, save for those with the courage to embrace it.
A world divided in two; one dead and ravaged, life within depending on Oblivion’s whim, the other lively and blanketed in a false security that no evil could ever touch it. The essence of Oblivion continuously pores over the dividing walls, lapping ever so hungrily for even a morsel of what awaited on the other side- many trusting and unwitting souls to entice and corrupt.
With the folly of the Decay spell and the weakness left within the very land itself, the dark tendrils of Oblivion grew stronger in this realm of light and seeped deeper into Trammel, reaching out to the nearby pockets of evil of the Yew Cemetery and the Yew Crypts. Tapping into the dark energies found within the unnatural swamp, undead ridden cemetery and Crypts, Oblivion worked its cancerous will. Something darker, with a far more sinister purpose than the Decay, haunted cemeteries and ancient Crypts combined came into existence. A monument to the corruption of life was erected and begun to spin an evil web across the realm of Trammel.
At the center of that twisted and malignant web dwells the Den of Iniquity. The next year promises to be much darker for the citizens of Yew and the lands beyond.
The Order of the Ebon Skull beckons you to revel in all that is sinful at our opening of the Den of Iniquity, located south of the Yew Moongate on the Trammel facet (coordinates: 47o 59'N, 35o 17'W). The celebration shall begin promptly at 7 p.m. beneath the eastern moon, January 1, 2003 with the opening of the Laughing Liche Tavern on the main floor and casino activities in the upstairs room, followed by a class on the anti-virtues hosted by the Scholomance and a special mass performed by the Clergy of OES.
We invite you to further partake in the celebration with your sinful submissions to a story contest to be judged by Lord Azalin, Mistress Mehalia, and Mistress Forna Sinthe. The most sinful of tales shall receive a prize of 100,000 Gold Coins, with prizes of 50,000 and 25,000 gold coins going to first and second runners up. Winning submissions will be displayed in the tower library as well as in the Scholomance of Caina (anonymity provided for those who wish it, of course). All entries should be forwarded no later than 3 p.m., January 1 along with character name and contact information.

King Beleth takes the Throne
Tonight, the rightful king of Sosaria, Beleth the Daemon Lord, headed a campaign to secure his hold upon the fractured city of Britain.
Patrolling the streets and controlling the centers of power, Beleth lead his army into the Castle of the former clown king British.
The army was composed of a great triad of servants of darkness. The forces of the Infernal Cult of Necromancy, the Orcs and the forces of the Order of the Ebon Skull.
In a grand proclamations King Beleth stated :"All those who stand against us will be crushed. And those who stand with me, like you have all done tonight, will be allowed to do as you please."
Later proclamations included the granting to the Infernal Cult and the Orcs any lands they desired in Sosaria.
This is a most glorious day for all inhabitants of our great land.

Clergy News
June 20, 2000 It was the evening of the Black mass and the priest spoke in a dark voice:
"I also wish to speak about this ridiculous trial the followers of lies have brought against Mesostopheles.
And behold were slain three innocents, and lo upon their lips were curses for the names of Greypawn, Windlord and the city of Yew... for their souls were devoured by Oblivion gone forever because of the capricious attempt of mere mortals to judge a child of Darkness.
June 1, 2000 The lands burst with the advent of a new age. The forces of Darkness have decimated those of the light.
A short story
The Dark priest sat in the halls of the church quietly perusing various documents that outlined recent events and his plans for an expansion into the realm Lord British thought he could escape to. The priest sends fourth missives to his minions throughout the land... The Harbingers of Light and their allies will soon taste of defeat once more. Let the land run red with their blood and the wind chill with the hopelessness of their fates.
Time boasts the greatest power of all, that of forgetting... everything is eventually lost in time; even the wandering events that have so drastically changed the form of this land are prey to the whims of time. Is it no wonder then that we have chosen our fates as we have?
May 10, 2000
With trepidation have we recently watched the decimation of Lord British's treasured realms. The final retreat of the despot king towards another realm has turned over the land to the forces of Darkness. It is with immense satisfaction that we do now watch the final end of all those who dared oppose Oblivion. The change of leadership and control within the realm has left Felucca, as our realm is now called in a somewhat vacuous state and devoid of direction.
Older News
As mentioned above, forthcoming soon to these pages is a discourse on the lore of Oblivion and the deep rituals observed by the priesthood of Oblivion. To be included is a list of the High Priest's sermons and a presentation of a few of the more common rituals observed by the guild.
A foretelling of things to come happened recently when the city of Trinsic was overcome by the wrath of an army of undead... hardy warriors from all around were quick to attempt its rescue and all failed for many many days.
Last week saw a strange apparition in front of the Church of Oblivion.
And so we breath this word of warning:
Beware. Beware ye who would dare stand in the way of Darkness. Her wrath is horrible and the end she brings about to her enemies unspeakable agony.
The clergy is pleased to welcome amongst its ranks Delgariath. Delgariath hails from an interesting background that will no doubt feed his wrath greatly. Oblivion is pleased.
Last eve's mass was a glorious success... visitors from abroad came to learn and fill their minds with the wisdom of Oblivion.
Indeed, Kail was most pleased when he left the church promising to come again with friends next time. The Darkness comes.
The night unfortunately ended with the Yew Militia coming fourth with all kinds of ridiculous accusations. They claimed to have seen us kidnap Kail. Weak mortals are expected to lapse like this from time to time. I tried to lead them in the right direction but it was difficult. The undead grow quickly restless when the scent of life is near. We still cannot find the remains of some of those who dared search the tower.
The day hath seemed overly long these last few moons. My servants tire at being forced to work in the heat of the sun. Tis perhaps a function of their mortality... not all are destined to the glories of Oblivion. I find it endlessly amusing to see them suffer at a task they do not know will destroy them.
Disturbing news hath come to us from the Halls of Aragothias. Indeed it seems the hallowed halls of the ancient have come under the scrutiny of an ancient greed.
The Dragonkin are about and their goals cannot be anything but nefarious to our own. We will put a stop to this. This must be stopped.
The Darkness will feast on them in the end. Nothing can stop the glorious end that will come to Britannia at the hands of Oblivion.
Blessed is the Darkness.
Progress on the Codex is going well... my minions have unearthed new segments of the Tome of Death in an old section of Covetous. We will be adding it to our library soon. *evil smile*
Sweet death it seems will come soon ... and perhaps after a fashion that will surprise some.
The Order of the Ebon Skull announces Caina (Atlantic) (Sunday 11/21/99 at 12:52 AM CST)
This from a wandering healer:
A strange new graveyard is being built on the Isle of Ice.

The Evil Spreads Within the Yew Militia (Atlantic) (Thursday 9/23/99 at 12:38 AM CDT)
Treachery most foul within the Yew Militia's ranks!
With a heavy heart I come to report that on last eve, one of our mostdedicated has deceived us.
Interrogations of the prisoner Kail, were to be preformed last night at the Yew jail. These interrogations were to be held by Sergeant Malicite, a veteran of the Militia.
To my surprise, he whirled for the door, and assisted the prisoner tofreedom! They raced out of the prison, through unknown passageways, and disappeared into the darkness.
If Kail was so innocent, then why did he leave? And now he has anaccomplice, who he has converted to his evil ways. Yes, Kail has spread evil to fellow sympathizers like a cancer.
Sergeant Malicite and Corporal Kail must both be brought to justice. If they are seen, they are to be apprehended or killed on sight.
Justice will prevail in these dark times for Yew's citizens!

Yew Attempts to Cleanse Evil (Atlantic) (Thursday 9/23/99 at 12:37 AM CDT)
Yew Militia and Friends Seek to Aide Their Comrade
It was earily in the morning this pacicular day at Serpent Cross Tavern. There were five of us gathered around the table refering to the recent events in Yew. Around the table was Windlord, Rictar, Talon, Will Ghostal, and myself Lieutenant SunWolf. We were talking of the mysterious man name Friar William and after that the curse on the militia member named Kail.
Kail was the only corporal in the miltia at that time and it was a great loss to lose him in this time of need. Windlord suggested the idea of using the shrines for curing him of this curse. We all pondered on the idea and then we worked on which shrine would be the most effective. That was easy to concur since he sacrificed himself for the protection of Yew, it makes since that his main virtue is sacrifice.
At that very moment we spotted Kail outside the tavern window. It was quite a surprise since he was all on our minds. His green miltia colors were dull white. We hurried out the door and tried to aproach him unthreateningly.
Once he saw me coming though, he took off running. We all searched the woods and Windlord was the first to find him. We caught up to them and they we talking. After fellow miltia member Talon convinced him that we meant no harm, he agreed to come with us to a shrine and off we went.
A moongate trip later, we were standing at the Shrine Of Sacrifice.
Kail was talking normally and friendly at that point.
Windlord called an open council meeting in Eldanor while Will Ghostal,Rictar, and myself met with Garish Dragon at the Yew town hall. Both parties opened a communication link between us and a secret meeting was held on Kail's rescue among other things.
Let us all hope an answer is found to this madness.

The Corruption of the Yew Militia - Step by Step (Atlantic) (Thursday 9/23/99 at 12:35 AM CDT)
Corporal Kail of the Yew Militia Makes Sacrafices
It was a typical night, just like any other. Light from Brittainia's orbiting moons shone through the windows. The usual crowd that frequented the Serpents Cross Tavern had thinned considerably. Only a few patrons remained scattered about the structure.
At one end of the bar, Sarip Dupre was scribbling on a bit of parchment. Probably writing another poem, I thought to myself. I was sitting at the opposite end of the bar. And finally, seated at the large table in the middle of the room, was Elric of Rune.
Alright, I said to myself as I began to feel some slight tension growing inside of me. When he gets up to leave, just ask him.
Mere minutes later, Elric rose from his seat and dusted himself off. He glanced in my direction, turned, and proceeded to the door.
"Elric, a word with ye, please," I said.
"Of course. Step outside with me."
I nodded and lifted my exhausted form from the barstool. Elric held the door for me as I stepped out into the night air. A few of the common sounds attracted my attention: a nocturnal bird chirped a tune, while a bear grunted as it searched the woodland ground for grubs or fallen berries.
Elric's voice caught my attention again. "Yes, Corporal. What is it?" He sounded a bit annoyed, and I couldn't blame him. I expected him to have just as much intention to strike me down where I stood as he did hearing me out.
I sighed and began explaining to him my intentions. "You see, I'm sick of having to constantly watch my back for you of The Skull. So, I have a proposition for you. " I fiddled with my Militia insignia as I spoke. "I'm willing to give myself up to ye, if you grant a full pardon to Yew."
Elric nodded slowly as I concluded my bargain. "I see. Your sacrifice is a noble one, but I have no say in this. The Bishop will be here in a moment to further conduct this dealing."
I nodded and took a seat on one of the outdoor benches. A few momentspassed, and Treadeau Du'rome materialized a few meters away, and Elricexplained to him my proposal.
"Very interesting," I overheard Du'rome say as they both turned in mydirection. He lifted his hand in my direction. "Come with us."
Du'rome opened a moongate, and before I even stepped through, I could feel the cold eminating from the Tower of Skulls. I shivered as I emerged from the opposite end of the gate. Yew was cold, but Arctic Island was much, much colder. I looked up and saw Golgotha rise like a monument upon a desolate plain; Truly a horrific sight to any mortal.
I followed Elric and the Bishop to the roof of the tower, and I could feel fear slowly creeping into the bowels of my soul.
"Stand in the middle," Elric said as he directed me to the pentagram, the centerpiece of the roof. I took a breath of the cold air, and stepped onto it. Elric headed back down the stairs, as Du'rome kept a watchful eye on me. My abilities to detect evil were causing me to glow an iridescent cerulean. Yet that glow suddenly brightened tremendously.
"Ah, the Lich Lord is near," Du'rome said. "This does not bode well for you." He cackled as I realized Azalin's presence caused me to glow so brightly.
My back was turned from the stairs, but I could hear the Lich Lord's feet against the stone. Elric followed him to the roof.
"Greetings, mortal," Azalin said from behind me. "What is your purpose here at the Tower of Skulls?"
I paused, at a loss for words.
"Speak up, Corporal," Elric snapped in my direction. I began to speak, but the Lich Lord cut me off.
"Turn to face me, cretinous mortal!" I took a deep breath, ignoring the cold that lingered in my chest, and turned to face him. I found him hideous, yet strikingly powerful. He stood only somewhat taller than me, yet I felt like a dwarf in his presence. I explained to him my intentions.
He scowled in irritation. "One soul. You give me one soul, yet you expect an entire city to be purged of darkness?"
I nodded. "Basically, aye."
Azalin sneered at me in disgust. "Your soul will do nothing more thanperhaps lead more of your kind to us."
I narrowed my eyes and swept away a tuft of hair that had blown in my face. "Well, I suppose it's too late for me to run, isn't it?"
"I'm afraid so," Azalin answered with an evil grin. "You realize that your precious city will fall, don't you?"
"No..." I began, but found myself once again at a loss for words.
"Nothing will be spared from the shadow of the Ebon Skull. Your sacrifice is not the first, and definately not the last, of many." He turned to his right. "Vyktr, proceed."
I noted that the Eroded one had appeared at his master's side, and several other followers of the Skull had gathered to observe.
Vyktr slit his wrists, and allowed the blood to flow into a goblet. Heapproached me.
"Drink this, and your soul will be mine. Without my blood, you will die a slow, painful death."
I took the goblet, prayed a final prayer to my deity, and downed the blood.
The night sky seemed to turn as bright as day, and my glow faded to nothing. I felt my own willpower begin to slowly slip away, as the knowledge of the Ebon Skull filtered in.
"Now," The Eroded one said. "You will inform me of anything and everything the Yew Town Council or the Yew Militia does. Is that understood, ghoul?"
"Yes..." my willpower tried to fight it, but to no avail. "...My lord."
Both Vyktr and the Lich Lord smiled wicked smiles, and I was ejected from the Tower of Skulls, to begin my quest.

Enemies Clash (Atlantic) (Friday 9/03/99 at 07:22 PM CDT)
Journal Entry: Preparing for the Cold
In only a few days, the bloody raids will begin.
I have been watching the dark ones gather, I visit each night (usually...) and assume the form of a broken tree branch, or perhaps a stone, sometimes even that of a crippled animal, near death.
Aye, the forces of Akalabeth are as ready as they will ever be. We have summoned all of our forces, called our brethren back to the village - ceasing their vacations, retreats, and whatnot. The time for war is at hand, and in only a few days... we will come crashing down upon the Ebon Skull members like the fiery hands of God!
Silently I pray for all those who will inevitably fall, never to rise again. My heart already feels the pangs of hurt, and my eyes... are already dampened from the tears that I know will flow freely that day. Be safe, my loved ones... be safe.
