These moonstones cause tall red doorways to rise from the ground for a limited duration and then fall again. Records indicate that the moonstone used by the Avatar was sent from a dimension populated entirely by gargoyles. It appears that these moonstones are magically enchanted stones using magic foreign to our world. This type of magic has been found among the undead and various inhabitants of the lost lands. It appears that a spell is cast upon the stone that programs a portal to take the user between two points on different worlds. It is unknown how these points are entered into a stone, but it is generally assumed that it is a pagan spell similar to our mark spell, perhaps even working on two rune-like objects.
