At last Claudette had a feeling of “normalcy” when she ran into Max and Nicodemus in the ALV guild house. It had been a long time since she had seen either of them and it seemed that for a while everyone she was close to had vanished to complete their own personal journeys. They all agreed that it was time to spend more time towards reuniting the guild and so naturally their attention turned towards Brianha. She had made it quite clear to Claudette that she didn’t want her getting involved in her dealings with the Order and so as hard as that was, Claudette had tried to respect that. She knew that her cousin had changed and she knew the changes were not good. She hadn’t seen or spoken to Brianha in many months and Max and Nico had not seen her either.

The three of them decided to split up and search for her in places she might frequent. Nico checked Heartwood for he had heard that she was trying to learn elven magic and traveled to Zento to search for Tai’s Sensei. Max traveled to Legion Island and the house where she and Vaen were to reside and Claudette checked the Garden and left a message on Arakad’s door. They all met back at the guild house only to share the same news; She was nowhere to be found. All three of them had gone to Hanse’s and learned from Ceinwyn that Brianha had left Umbra. They could only hope that she was safe and agreed to continue to look for her. Max suggested checking Mage shops and healers. Although the thought that she might be hurt pained Claudette, she knew that Max made a valid point and that they needed to check everywhere.

As Claudette tried to think of more places her cousin might have gone to, she decided to write her a letter.

My Dearest Cousin:

It has been a long time since we last spoke and it seems Max and Nico have not seen you around lately either. I pray that you are safe. I must admit I know nothing of where you have been or what you have been doing lately and it pains me that we no longer seem to be as close as we once were. I worry about you and love you very much. Max, Nico and I are very worried about you and have launched a search to find you. If this letter finds you before any of us do, please let us know you are well.

With much love,

Claudette

Claudette sealed the letter and walked it over to Brianha’s house. She stared at the door for a few minutes and sighed. Normally she would have let herself in and left the letter on Brianha’s desk, this time was different. So much had changed between them that she almost felt like a stranger standing before an unknown house. As she placed the letter on Brianha’s front step, she hoped Brianha would come home soon. Only then would things be back to normal, only then would Claudette feel her family was once again intact.
