Jolicia sat in her hammock at Grig'nag's shak thinking about what she had been told the previous day... the Brotherhood was ending. Brian had called those left to the guild house and informed them that Baeleron was lost, never to return and that he would also be leaving the realm. With everything that had been happening to her this news just added to it. She wondered what she would do now, with Beldon leaving her and now the only family she new was disappearing before her eyes. Poet was starting his own adventure of traveling and telling stories, something that would fit him well. Starfire and Tatiana seemed to be as lost as Jolicia felt about what to do now. She had received a note from Cloudster, she still called him that even though everyone seemed to call him Tarothin now, offering her a home within the Dark Order. She had thought about it since most of what used to be her family was there, but had to decline. There was no way she could reside there while Beldon was a leader in the ranks, it would just hurt too much.
She lay back in the hammock with all of these thoughts rushing through her head when a hawk busted through one of the windows leaving her a message. It was from Brian and it seemed that he wanted her at the guildhouse. She gathered a few things starting to grab for her orc helm and then stopped, laying it back down and picking up her feathered hat to place on her head. She arrived and noticed Brian looking around aimlessly in his front yard. She walked over and through the archway looking up at him. He looked and smiled, "Hello Jo."
She fidgeted with her robe a little, smiling back a little, "Hi."
"I have something for you," his voice mellow as he walked up to her and held out his Brotherhood robe. It was the one he'd had for many years, made by Lord Vengance himself and personally blessed. Jo looked up at him as her eyes started to get teary, shaking her head a little as she held the robe in her hand. He placed his hand on her shoulder, "Wear it with pride and remember us as you do."
She sniffled staring at the robe, "Always."
"Come," tugging on her pigtail "Walk with me to the guildhouse." The two started talking as the walked next door to the guildhouse and up inside. Brian seemed to be curious about what she was going to be doing next. The sat up on the roof looking at the Brotherhood Champion sash and talked for what seemed to be hours as the reminisced. She tried to convince him to stay and he tried to help her figure out where to move on from here, hinting at a few particular things which surprised her. They went back down to the meeting area and both of their eyes seemed drawn to the stone as they sighed. He sat down in his chair, asking her to sit next to him and confessed some things to her. She just sat there in amazement at what he was saying, it just couldn't be real. She was so overwhelmed that the tears were running down her cheeks and even Brian seemed to be trying to hold some back. He helped her pack a couple more things into her bag. "Well Jolicia, it's been some of the best times I can remember..." giving her a big hug, "... Goodbye."
She watched him leave the room, clutching the items he had given her to her chest. She glanced around the room one last time and then recalled away. She went to her house, which she hadn't been to in months in seemed and walked inside, still clutching her pack to her chest. She found a box and placed the items Brian had given her inside, locking it shut. She looked around the room searching for the perfect spot to hide the box, not to open it again until the time was right. She went up to her room, removing her copper robe and hanging it on the wall in remembrance of Baeleron and pulled out Brian's old robe that he had just given her, slipping it on. It was slightly big for her but that didn't matter, she would wear it with pride. She placed her hat back on her head and pulled out the rune to Grig's shack and paused for a moment. She glanced herself over, feeling a little better, having a purpose again and thought to herself, "I'll make you proud Brian." |
