As Tatiana stood staring at Beowulf's last resting place, she made her decision. She had not wanted to make this one but it had now become necessity. She knew that Beowulf would have moved mountains and earth to keep his son safe. With his passing, she feared even more than before for Grigori's safety. And she was helpless to do it herself. It was a momentous decision and would set Grigori on his future path.
She went home and gathered up Grigori and his things, packed his toys and loaded all up on Knight. She recalled to the Garden. Tatiana held Grigori's hand and led him upstairs to see Mr. Hugh. It was so hard to ask things of others. She never wanted to be a burden to others, but it was Grigori who was paramount in her thoughts.
"Mr. Hugh, sir? I have a great favor to ask of you. I.... this is very hard for me to do but.....I fear for Grigori's safety. I know I can not protect him from all the dangers in the world and I was hoping you could take him on as an apprentice, to teach him magic." Mr. Hugh grinned widely and joked with her a bit and said he would be glad to teach Grigori.
Tatiana pushed Grigori's hair off his face and smiled softly. " I am going to leave you here with Mr. Hugh. He is going to teach you to do magic like your dad did. I won't be far away and will come to see you all the time. And he will make sure folks like that Miss Faith can't hurt you." Brushing his hair to the side yet again, she leaned forward and kissed his forehead. "I love you very much and want what is best for you."
Before she could burst into tears, she thanked Mr. Hugh and hurried from the room. As soon as she was safely out of Grigori's sight she burst into endless sobs as she found Knight and left for home.
