Claudette paced the floor of her bedroom, she couldn’t sleep and the thoughts of the danger her cousin had gotten herself into likely wouldn’t let her sleep for a long time. She thought about how things used to be, how at one point in her life she had loved Vaen as a friend and was certain that he would make Brianha happy. The way the three of them used to go out for drinks and have so much fun joking and laughing. It was hard to believe so much had changed but she couldn’t escape the reality. The images of her cousin’s bruised body and face still haunted her and she knew she couldn’t just sit idly by as her cousin had requested. There had to be something she could do. She knew it would be suicidal to go against Vaen or any of the members of the Order. She knew that her resources were limited but she also felt she had to try. She thought about all the things Brianha had shared with her and immediately thought about Tai and his Sensei. “Perhaps Tai can provide me with some knowledge.” She thought to herself.

The next morning, she got herself ready and set out to find Tai. She went to his home and could hear the children laughing and playing. She knocked on the door and asked if Master Tai was available. She was then led to a room and was told to wait for him there. It only took a few minutes and then Tai appeared. He bowed to her and respectfully Claudette bowed back. Tai asked her to have a seat and as she did she began to speak. “I will not waste your time, I know you are a busy man.” She said “I know my cousin has sought you out to help her and that your Sensei is teaching her in the art of meditation.” Tai nodded and listened. “She has asked me not to get involved but I simply cannot do that, I need to at least try to help her.” Claudette shifted in her seat and went on. “She has warned me that there may be times when she may act differently, even dangerous, I need to know what I can do in that situation.” Tai calmly got up and reached for something on a shelf, he then walked over to Claudette and gave her a package. “This may help, light this meditation incense in her presence.” Claudette wrapped her hands tight around the package and held it close. “Thank you very much Master Tai. Please do not tell her I came to see you. She will only worry if she knows.” With a determined look on her face she thanked Tai once again and returned to her home. There were other people that she needed to speak to and she had to prepare herself.

Tai watched Claudette leave then went back to his desk in the children's playroom.

He looked down to his journal he had left open and watched as the twin girls Rei and Kei giggled while they made his inkstone and quills appear and disappear. He looked for Taichi and found him leaving inky palm prints on the underside of his table.

He reached over and chucked them both under the chin and they returned his inkstone and quills.

He then wrote in his journal:

The conversion from light to dark by Lord Vaen has been very disturbing. It is understood he has had many tragedies in his life. However, I would not have thought that he would hurt the one he loved the most.

This is quite vexing. I do not know if the old non interference agreement that the Alliance signed with the Ebon Skull still stands.

I fear in the coming days I will be forced to learn if it does.
