|
Brianha’s mind swirled the days following her meeting with Norture and Vaen. Seeing him that night she thought he looked vulnerable and even scared at times. She could not help but wonder at the sincerity of his words and actions. Knowing the best way to stay favorable with the group he now called his family she decided it would be best to not question his actions or words and just go along pretending to be the concerned and loving woman they expected her to be. The anger in her heart was building though and at times it was hard to focus on her goal of finding a way to free him of this darkness.. rather she felt pulled to her own darkness. She would be strong though and continue on her plan.
Her first plan was to seek out her old friend Ceinwyn.. she had power and Bri knew she lived in darkness more than light, and so was hoping she might have information that could help her put an end to Vaens tortured soul. Bri still loved him very much even after the beating he gave her… she knew his rage had taken him and that there was little he could have done to prevent it.
After spending the eve with her cousin Claudette and looking at chapels for her wedding with Melior, Bri decided to finally go and see her old friend. Mounting her horse she rode fast feeling the air whip her hair around. It felt good.. she felt she could not go fast enough… if only she could ride to eternal peace she thought as the hair whipped her cheeks leaving them red from the abuse. She felt nothing though and pushed her mount harder. She only felt the need for peace in her soul.
Finally reaching the palace of ice Bri slipped off her horse and stabled it to the small stables next to her house. She stood tall and straight as she entered the house. There was always something about this woman that made her feel the need to prove her own strength as a woman. She had not seen her in some time and hoped that things between them were still well enough.
Finally finding her upstairs they exchanged greetings and began to talk. During the conversation Bri learned the Max and Cein were not much of a couple at all anymore. He did not sleep there anymore which led Bri to wonder about her friend and if he might need an ear to listen. Putting her mind back on the conversation she went through recent events with Vaen and explained her concerns. Bri was shocked to learn it was this very woman who brought him to the Order.
Cein warned Bri of his darkness and that it has always been there underneath everything.. she told Bri to forget him and move on.. that he would never be the faithful husband she needed. At this Bri shot her a sharp look and told her to state what she knew.. there was something she was hiding… he had always been faithful to her right? She knew in his past he had not been.. but with her it could not be so! Reluctantly Cein finally admitted that he had come to her.. and that she gave in.. and because she wanted it! This infuriated Bri and the anger within her started to boil out of control.. how much was she expected to take before breaking? She looked down and then as she looked back up at Cein her eyes were filled with a crazed look.. she looked disturbed and unnatural for the Bri that she was known as
Slowly she approached Cein and touched her cheek softly looking with her crazed eyes into Ceins. She could see the look of confusion on her face as she stroked her cold cheek… it did feel good to her touch right now… she felt it against the heat of her anger and it was an odd mix of pleasure. Smiling at what she was about to do she reached for the woman’s head and brought her face to her own.. Bri took the woman’s lips to her own and held her with a kiss. This seemed to shock her and so Bri used this opportunity to pull out her knife from her belt and stab the woman in the gut. A small feeling of satisfaction ran through her blood and she stepped back watching the look on the woman’s face. Both of the women betraying each other in some way. Trust taken by each. Bri wanted to show her what it was like if even for an instant to trust someone and then have it thrown back in your face. Smiling at the shock on Ceins face Bri felt satisfied that she was able to take this woman who guarded herself so well by surprise. It did not matter what happened now.. Bri’s world was crashing down and so she mentally braced herself for what might come next from the woman’s anger.. she was after all a much stronger opponent than Bri could really handle truth be told. The anger still swirled around her heart and her mind as she saw the same emotions of rage start to cross the eyes of the other woman… |
