After having visited Zento for the last time, and after having given out all of the armor that he had become to accustomed to as casual garments, Dan began his walk down the final road of memories. He was wearing old barkeep garments, that of a dark red vest, deep blue sandles, bone arms, his trademark black bandana and black skirt.
The day was late, and he was making his way down to the Freehold. Poet's Garden, was what it was first called, but not anymore. It become a place of nuetrality for the guilds of the realm, and for Dan, it had become a foster home. He had bunked there after he troublesome departure from the Army of the Frontier, but that was but another memory now. Eventually he reached the front steps of the Freehold, and looked up at the reinforced structure of marble and oak. Again, as he had remembered it, the tavern was peaceful. Folding his arms over his chest, and did indeed feel a bit of regret of his decision.
But a decision was a decision.
As he stood there in his perceptive view of the tavern, a sound came across his ears. As he looked to his side, he noticed a woman appear from out of nowhere. She had her face covered, and her clothes were in deep crimson red. She looked as if she were a ninja, but judging by how she recovered herself after the spell and regaining her balance on solid ground again, he knew who it was. The woman looked up to him, straight into his eyes, but made no comment. She merely stood there, and then looked down away to the ground from his gaze.
It was Synful.
He had come across her the evening before, and it was quite clear how she so despised him now. "A new home", "a taste for blood", all of it seemed to be a more than obvious attempt of her trying to hurt his feelings. But then again, being hurt was just what she wanted, and Dan knew that he must maintain his apathetic standpoint of it all. Only then, could her efforts be in vain.
She walked past him, still looking down at the ground away from his gaze, and entered the building. As she sank into its chambers, Dan gave a smug grin. "She'll live. Good riddance, if she is to act like this."
As he pulled out his runebook, he began to flip to the page to the Moongate of Yew. It was time to visit the ole Abbey, but just before he incantated the final word for the spell to teleport, he glanced upward as she watched him leave. Giving notice, he looked up at her with both eyes, and smiled.
