My dearest love,
It has been so long since I have seen you and I miss you more than words can explain. It seems we have both been very busy lately.
I am writing to let you know that I will be away for a few days. There is some business I need to attend to and it cannot wait. I wish I could see you before I depart but I must go immediately. I hope you will understand. Please do not worry about me. I will be fine and will be back soon.
I love you and will be thinking about you.
Love always,
Claudette _________________

Reading the letter, he stands there in quiet contemplation. He preferred to tell her in person, something as important as this.
My Dearest Lady Love,
I need to speak to you as soon as you return, my love. I have important news that will concern you. Maybe you can plan another picnic for us?
I have been working hard on my shifts of guarding the the road to Yew. You remember my territory between guard posts? Who ever knew so many ogres, trolls, and ettins wandered daily into the realm trying to harm travellors?
My Dearest, I miss you. I dislike that duty must come first, but that is how it must be, so that I can support you. I hope you like our newest pets.
*a smiley face is drawn in ink*
I love you, with all that is me.
Love Forever, Your Aratoamin,
Melior
He folds the letter up and brings it to Claudette's house. He steps into her home and deposits the letter on the table in plain view. As he is about to leave, he takes a quick walk around the place, securing windows and inspecting doors. Unsatisfied at the situation, but finding the doors to be standardly adequate, he takes his leave with thoughts of Claudette upon his troubled mind. _________________ "Art and architecture must combine to create something larger than either." ~ Robert Campbell |

Claudette was happy to return to her home. She had been gone for a few days and had returned feeling good about what she had accomplished while she was away. She knew that she could now move on with her life and was excited about the future.
As she set her bags down on the floor, something on her stone table caught her eye. She walked towards it and smiled when she saw it was a letter. She smiled even wider when she noticed it was Melior’s writing on the envelope. She had missed him terribly and wanted to see him as soon as possible to tell him about her trip.
As she opened the letter she smiled at the smiley face he had drawn towards the bottom of it. As she began to read the letter, a concerned look appeared on her face. What might this news be that he has to tell me about? Has he been injured? She thought. Fearing the worst but not wanting to get too ahead of herself, she went to her writing desk and penned a reply.
My Dearest Aratoamin,
How I missed you while I was away! I just returned and found your letter on my table. I have to admit that this news you speak of has me worried. I pray that nothing has happened to you while I was away and hope that you either write me back soon or come to see me so that I will know that you are well.
I long to feel your arms wrapped around me once more. It seems like an eternity has passed since we last saw each other. I miss you and hope that you will have some free time to spend with me. I know you are busy and that you cannot neglect your duties. I too have many things to share with you. Please let me know when you will be available and I will plan something fun for us to do so we can finally spend some much needed time together.
I love you!
Your arwenamin,
Claudette
She then seals the letter with some wax, tucks it into her pocket and speaks the words that bring her to their new home. After fighting an intrusive giant spider, she props the letter up on one of the candles on the table and smiles to herself. As she takes a look around the beautiful home Melior built for them, she looks forward to what the future holds. _________________

Melior walked up the steps and unlocked the door to the future home of his and Claudette's. He looked 'round the room with a satisfied smile. Everything was kept in place, by him, and not a speck of dust, anywhere. He wanted it to remain brand-new when he carried his bride over the threshold.
He spotted the letter, propped on the table.
What's this? A letter?
He breaks the seal, and unfolds the letter, wondering who might have left it. As he reads Claudette's letter, his heart skips, happily.
He sits down at the table, with pen and ink and parchment, to write her a response.
Dearest Love of Mine,
I am well, and eating well, too! The food they serve us in Lord British's castle is above-standard quality. I have gained some weight, though fret not, for 'tis of the muscle matter, and not that of fat. I have been training harder here, with the guards. My post has been moved. I now walk the streets of Britain City, instead of the roads of Yew.
I, too, long to hold you in my arms. I miss talking to you of ideas for our future together. I miss the sighs you make when you are lying in my arms, at night. I will ask for time off, if you leave me word of when you will have time alone.
Til Next Our Lips Meet,
Love Your Aratoamin,
Melior
P.S. I hope you like the flowers.
He leaves the letter on the same table he left the last one, in her house. Then, he places a bouquet of wild flowers in a vase beside it. Once again, he goes aound her house, checking windows and doors. Then, he takes his leave to prepare for another night of guard duty. _________________ "Art and architecture must combine to create something larger than either." ~ Robert Campbell |
