|
So many stood waiting for the journey to begin. Everyone seemed to be anxious to move it along, but Brianha was nervous. She thought of all of the lives she was putting in jeopardy for something that was no longer a necessity.
The guilt had overcome her many times in the last night and she tossed and turned unsure if she was making the right decision. She knew she had to deceive to keep her friend safe and to keep her plan from folding. With a heavy heart she knew she had no other choice and sighing, climbed up onto her horse and galloped to the Freehold.
After waiting for some time all were there save one.. Arakad.. the one who had the information to use the crystal ball. After speaking about their options they decided to take the chance and search hoping that it would be figured out with the many who would be there.
They went through a gate and rode towards the Demon Temple. At once the smell of death surrounded Brianha. As they came upon the temple heartbeats pounded heavily, weapons were held with a tighter grip, sweat started to bead on foreheads and glances were exchanged with a nod for the ready. They went charging in splitting in two groups.. one went up and other down.
It was chaos and only the sound of fighting could be heard. Blood was dripping on weapons, on hands, foreheads and pooled around the feet of the horses as each dragon was taken. It went on for what seemed an eternity dragon after dragon still charging after them. Brianha was beginning to feel that they would not find what they had come in search for when she heard someone call “Drayden has found something!” As she began to head that way everyone was ordered to run to the outside of the temple. Knowing that she was not skilled particularly well in battle, and should listen to those who were, she tapped her horse with her heels and cantered to the safety of the outside.
Everyone began to make their way to the safety of the gates and Brianha could see the look of exhaustion on all of their faces. Panting heavily herself she was in need of something to drink. Vaen rescued her from her thirst and provided her with water. The others drank thirstily as well and waited anxiously to find about what had been found. Drayden and Vaen both inspected what appeared to be a rune. Curious if this was what they were looking for to lead them in the right direction Vaen decided to go to the location and determine its safety before allowing the others to follow. It appeared to be safe enough and so with that they all saddled back up and headed through the gate to an unknown destination… |
