Smiticles felt as if a herd of Gaman had trampled his body. With great effort he forced himself from his bed in order to write to his love.
Mallory my beloved,
I hope this finds you well and safe. Knowing the nature of the quest which you and our friends undertook for Brianha has left me anxious for information on your safety and well being. I am so sorry I could not accompany you and the questing party last eve. I must say that I fell quite ill and have been confined to my bed. Fear not, I am not poisoned nor am I afflicted by disease in any way. I'm chagrined to say that my illness is my own stupid fault. You see, my love, my gypsy friends kindly invited me to dine with them and celebrate the brithday of one of their leaders. Well, as you may know gypsy life can be, shall I say, somewhat unsantitary at times. I thoroughly enjoyed a feast of roasted great hart stew, topped off with some splendid wine (its procurement which remains in question). Unfortunately I have a feeling the stew pot may not have been cleaned in quite a while. I shant go into detail but the effect on my body was predictable to say the least. The resulting illness has left me weakened and fatigued. Lifting my body from my bed was strenuous enough but lifting my sword was not happening at all.
I want you to know that I am feeling much better and my strength is returning, albeit slowly. Soon I will be myself once again. Its funny to think of being subdued by a simple and silly illness. Up until last night you were the only thing to make me so weak in the knees!
I do fret for your well being and safety. Due to my "indisposed" state I have not even been to a window to see if Claudette has made it home. I pray for her well-being as well. Please, repond to let me know you are secure. If I do not hear from you I will go to the ends of the earth to find you.
For now I am heading back to bed to recover. Surely my dreams will be of you.
Yours,
Smiticles
Struggling to get to the door, Smiticles (in a rather harsh voice) called for a gypsy to make the delivery. Seeing the look on Smiticles' face and knowing full well the source of his troubles, the gypsy declined payment and offered to make this delivery free of charge. |
