How dare he?!

Kilena made her way through the intricate tunnels of Wind, keeping to the shadows as to not be detected by unfriendly eyes. While most of the inhabitants of Wind have taken kindly to her refuge there, there were those that did not. She was fuming mad and had one of those enemies approached her she would have most gladly removed their head from the rest of their body.

Kilena had sensed his presence as soon as he entered. She had never thought he would seek her out, but secretly her heart had hoped he would. The last time she had seen him he had been engrossed with a stinking rivvil. She became so enraged she returned to Wind, a place introduced to her by another drow by the name of Gorhun. It was the closest to the underdark and she would remain there until she could gather others and once again become a ruling force amongst the waele. To be betrayed again, by another male was too much for Kilena. Never again would she trust her heart. It was no wonder they held no importance. When would she learn and heed the advice of those before her? Why had she let that other warp her mind and make her think of other things?

But here he was, in her city. She had sensed him as he entered and went to seek him out, with her dagger drawn. The sight of him brought back surging memories of nights spent in his arms and again the anger returned. She would not give him the satisfaction and remained in the shadows. He seemed to be searching for someone, or something. She watched as he asked for tomes and for information, repeating the name Telia. Kilena seethed with built up anger and disappointment. Who was this Telia? Was she this human elg'caress that he had been with? How dare he come here? She watched as he continued to make notes in a book he had brought.

For days she followed him, remaining in the shadows as he walked around and around. He went further and further into the tunnels, running out of food and water, but Kilena would not aid him. She would watch him suffer the way he had made her suffer in silence. One evening he collapsed and she made her way over to him. His eyes were open, but he did not seem to see her, or if he did he did not recognize her. He kept saying the name Telia. She took the book from his bag and read it, her blood boiling. He had sealed his fate. Kilena turned to the next blank page. She drew her dagger across her index finger and wrote Elghinn chu ulu nindyn nindel chi' ninta ehmtu. She dropped the book next to him and left him there to become a meal for whatever found him first.

Kay had been lying on the cave floor for a long time, it could have been hours, it could have been days. He lay there, in and out of consciousness. When what he thought was the sound of his beloved Telia he heard. It was just a dream, much like the rest he had been having in these wretched caverns.

"What are you doing here?" She asked of him.

But, when he opened his eyes to view the source of what he thought was a dream, he saw instead a demon, towering above him. Confusion set in first, followed by the certainty that he was going to die at the hands of this beast.

He sighed. If only he could have at least given his Telia a last good-bye. Now, there would be no chance. In his weakened state, he would be mangled by the demon.

He closed his eyes to welcome his certain death, when he felt strong, yet soft, hands lifting him, carrying him away. He heard the words "An Lor Xen" and knew they had escaped from the demon.

His rescuer set him down on a marble slab inside the city limit. The slab helped to enclose a pond, wherein floated waterlillies and lilypads.

Half opening his eyes, he made out the form of his beloved Telia. She had come to him. She had rescued him. He raised his hand, in it he clutched a pair of silver sandals he had procured just for her, prior to starting this mission.

She cupped her hands giving him quenching water, and made a statement about feeding him lilypads. The water revived him enough to joke a bit about that. At last, when he could lean upon her and stumble, she gated them to her home.

She got him upstairs and tucked into her bed, after much fussing with his armor. She tended to his needs, dipping cloth into water and wringing it above his mouth to sate his thirst.

At one point, she thought him sound asleep, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her under the covers with him. He held her close, much as a child holds a stuffed bear for comfort. Breathing in the gentle scent of her hair he sighed and was soon asleep.

Within moments, the sound of his gentle snoring could be heard.
