Drayden was still rather foggy headed when he woke up the next morning. Ugh, too much to drink last night. He looked over, seeing a mane of firey red hair and his throat clenched. Thats right, now I remember....

Brianha's party had started well. He had laughed and shared some drinks with a couple friends. He spent most of the evening with Claudette, who spent the evening going between himself and Flair. This did not upset Drayden as much as he thought it would. What sent him over the edge that evening was the arrival of Ceinwyn....

As Ceinwyn was leaving she stumbled upon Drayden, Vaen, Brianha and Mallory, who happened to be talking about her. Unfriendly words were exchanged. Drayden remembered quite clearly what she had said to him, in both drow and elven. Rage consumed him and he could do nothing but storm away as she boldly insulted his guildmaster.

So, with that Drayden left. Retreating to his home to sift through his newly moved belongings and get his mind off of the situation. Claudette followed of course trying to figure out what was wrong.

Drayden shook his head as he slid out of bed, the rest was rather fuzzy. Once again, too much to drink last night. He took a moment to look out the large window at the foot of the bed. The sun was just resing over the ocean, sending sparkles everywhere. He turned back, looking at Claudette's sleeping form in his bed. Putting on one of his favorite robes, he walked up to his study and began penning a letter.

Dearest Claudette,

I will return soon. There is a matter of utmost importance that I must tend to. I will see you upon my return or if you are gone, this evening. My heart will always be yours and your presence this evening was very comforting to me. It made me forget the troubles we face.

Love, Drayden

He folded the letter and sealed it with the Grimoire seal then went to his garden, picking a rose from a plant and laid it on his side of the bed. The elf gathered his belongings and murmured the words "Kal Ort Por". He vanished, carried on the winds of magic to a most important meeting.

Claudette stirred in her sleep and felt the firt rays of sunshine warming her face. She felt happy and had gotten a very good night's sleep. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt so well rested. As she stretched she noticed that she was alone in the bed. Sitting up she turned towards the other pillow only to find a note and a beautiful rose. She smiled as she picked up the note and read it.

Dearest Claudette,

I will return soon. There is a matter of utmost importance that I must tend to. I will see you upon my return or if you are gone, this evening.

She wondered what was so important and hoped that Drayden would tell her of his meeting when next they saw each other. She smelled the rose and took it and the note downstairs with her. As she looked out the window she thought about last night. She and Drayden had shared his bed. They had held each other close and had fallen asleep in each other's arms but nothing else had happened. She had felt comfortable with the decision to stay and was happy that they had been there for each other. She read the note again and smiled at the words. My heart will always be yours and your presence this evening was very comforting to me. It made me forget the troubles we face.

My heart is fast becoming yours she thought with a smile. She tucked the note in her pocket and carried the rose out with her. With a final look at Drayden's new home, she closed the door and left.
