Brianha awoke after sleeping fitfully for a couple of hours. Holding her head she groaned regretting having had so much to drink last eve.
Thinking that the drink would ease the suffering if only for a little while she indulged and had given into her whim last night. After she was well into her cups her friends, as they called themselves, took her on an adventure into the dungeons. They knew she would be well protected and did not fear for her safety in the state she was in.. in fact they feared she would have been far worse if allowed to drink another drop. The night grew late and they decided it was time to get her home and put her to rest for the eve.
She sighed as she thought about the past two days and how hard it had been. She was so caught up in trying to find out more about herself that she had decided to go through her book of travels and visit the locations she used to haunt on a regular basis. It was painful to visit some of the places for it did not bring back any memories. She knew she had yet to face the most painful place… her mother and fathers house.
She thought back to the haunted looks of the faces she had already met and it pained her to know she was the cause of so much hurt. She especially found it hard to look into Vaen’s eyes and see that he did love her, yet she had no love to return as yet.
Standing slowly she began the preparations to travel to her parents house. All that she had was a book listing where they lived, she knew nothing more about them and hoped that they would be understanding and patient. Above all else she prayed that something would jog her memory and she could put this to rest knowing that it would come back in time… for now she had no sign of anything returning.
She arrived and was received with open arms and warm hearts, and it broke hers that she could not reciprocate those sentiments. Through much conversation and tears Brianha was able to explain the little that she knew to this point. Her parents were very concerned for her, but knew that they had to give her time and so they spent the remainder of the day reminiscing pleasant childhood memories with her, hoping something would help. Brianha had no recollection of the childhood, and it seems that even seeing her parents did not help. With a heavy heart she decided that it was time to leave so that she might walk alone for a time… she needed to regroup.
Walking aimlessly the thoughts raced through her head. The only thing left to do was to visit the last location before she lost her memory. She would have to find out where that was, as it was not in her book of travels. If that did not help Brianha realized she was going to have to stop looking for answers and accept that she was to start her life over again. She could not bear to look into the eyes of so many and see pain knowing she was the cause, and so she would have to decide at some point if the road she would walk would be a lonely one. |
